                    • Wow, Kobra, those are some great units! I just started working on an Iraqi freedom scenario, and it's apparent you must be working on something along those lines.

BTW, I'm new to this forum, so 'hey' all.

Oh yeah, does anyone know a good site with info about the camo patterns and colors of different nations? I've looked all night and can't find anything. Thanks...

                      • Welcome Murdoch!

No I'm not working on something along the lines in fear of making a too politicised and thus unpopular scenario. So you are free to use anything you want. And feel free to tell me if if there's anything else you want, I'd be glad to help out with more if needed.

Someone gave the thought of an Iraqi scenario over at CivFan:

                        • Thanks!

Well, I'm planning on making a 'what if?' scenario. As in, what if the Iraqi's put up a really good fight. I'm planning on balancing out the sides for fairness, but giving the coalition forces a slightly better edge. When playing as the Iraqi's, you'll get infusions of cash from sympathetic arab states so you can purchase more equipment. Maybe I'll implement a 'black market' feature like in the 'Day of Treason' scenario, where you can buy units. I mean, C'mon, the Hussein's were loaded!

I've alreadly started laying the ground work using CentCom and DoD maps. I've got Kurds, Iraqis, U.S., Brits and Syrian forces.

The plan is to make 2 scenarios with different event files. One to play as the U.S., the other to play as Iraq. The Brits, Kurds and Syrians will be better played by the computer. The Kurds will only have militia fighters, and a small artillery piece to produce, no heavy equipment. While playing as the Iraqi's, you can 'research' Syrian intervention to get them to intercede on your behalf. That will add more light tanks and soldiers to the fight. You'll also be able to research 'Weapons of Mass Destruction' and then build a WMD Program wonder to be able to build nuke and chemical missiles. There will be stationary units like Oil refineries and chemical depots that will need to be protected, or you will lose money if the U.S. destroys them. Also, I'm making some 'dug-in' stationary tanks that will have pretty good defense factors. I plan to make special units of Tommy Franks, Saddam, and Odai and Qusai together. While playing as the Americans, you'll have to try to find the Saddam unit and take Baghdad and other key cities before time runs out and popular opinion back home causes a loss. Naturally as the Iraqis, you'll need to protect your cities. I think it could be fun!

As for your help, I LOVE your vehicle units. I'm pretty decent with the soldiers, but it would be great for you to do some more vehicles if you get the chance. I've found quite a few I need on here, they just need desert camo paint jobs.

Last of all, I haven't made a scenario in quite sometime. I'm trying to remember everything. I only have Photoshop 5.5, so right now I'm using the provided unit editor in MGE. When I try to load certain unit GIF files I've got from this forum, it won't seem to let me choose them. Like your marines and Humvees... it won't let me select them. Any ideas? Thanks and let me know if you are interested... I've got a list of units!!

...and the Americans were even more loaded. It appears that one of the reasons much of the Iraqi army didn't fight was because their commanders had been bribed! (given the nature of the regime they were fighting for, I doubt that these bribes amounted to much ). This is a rare example of the 'bribe unit' feature of civ actually occuring in real life.

The built in editor is crap. Don't use it! I normally use MS paint to do my drawings, then I load them into PS for effects and such. What you need to do is to manually cut and paste the units into the units.gif/bmp file you're using for the scen. This you can do in MS Paint.

Maybe you should open a new thread, so we don't have to spam the graphics thread with this 'discussion'?
