        You're right, I was thinking of the A-6D, not the E version. Sorry.

        • There is a naval version of the StarFighter? The Tornado I know was used by Germany for land-based recon, but a StarFighter?

            • POTUS, please don't make me get technical, I don't know the difference between the two. I have gotten to the point where I have to use photos of the civilian aircraft they were converted from.

              • Wow, those are really great naval units!
                Have you considered having a go at a Lutjens/Charles F Adams/Perth class guided missile destroyer?

                The Starfighter was never navalised. However, the German Navy's air arm did operate a number of them from land bases for recon and fleet air defence. AFAIK, the Navy later operated F-4s and Tornados. Not bad for a country that's never completed a carrier (from memory, the navy developed a fighter arm after reaching the conclusion that, in the event of war, the air force would be too busy protecting it's own bases and bombing advancing Soviets to spare any aircraft to assist the navy).

                  • Thank you all!

                    @Case

                    Thanks, a lot of my ships are modelled on your "Long Beach-Class" cruiser - the ship is excellent!

                    Your right, the German Fleet Air Arm was/is not carrier based, but the F104-G Starfighter was used by the MFG1 and MFG2 (Marinefliegergeschwader = Naval Air Squadron) before the MRCA Tornado. (Both on the picture)

                    The never completed carrier was the "Graf Zeppelin" - I made two versions and will upload the ww2-units in the showcase.

                    "Have you considered having a go at a Lutjens/Charles F Adams/Perth class guided missile destroyer?"

                    Opps, I thought my "Type 103B" was good enough to identify - it's the official number for the "Lütjens-Class" (Charles F. Adams - destroyer) in Germany. The last one was out of duty last month in my former hometown Wilhelmshaven.
                    Two of the ships are my favourites , because I'm a former crewmember of FGS "Bayern" (destroyer Hamburg-class or Type 101A) and FGS "Brandenburg" (frigate Brandenburg-class or Type 123).

                      The Kiegsmarine also started work on modifing 2(?) light cruisers into carriers, but this plan was dropped pretty quickly.

                      oops, sorry - I see the resemblance now. The Australian Perth class looked a bit different.
