  • Wow that Primus is also great

On checking Janes, I think that you may be right. The strange thing is that the Primus doesn't actually *look* much like the M-109
The Singaporeans are rather secretive about their arms manufacture and procurement,* so it's impossible to know what the real story behind the Primus actually is.

*For instance, there are rummors that Singapore has a number of M-60s in secret storage (with the crews being trained in Taiwan) and the 'indigenous' Primus does look an awful lot like the new Spanish IFV. Their offical military budget is also a joke - despite fielding much larger and more sophisticated regular and reserve forces then Australia, Singapore's defence budget is much smaller then the Australian defence budget (US$5 Billion vs the Australian total of about US $9 Billion)

There are rumours that Singapore may have also purchased the Merkava Mk 3.

      Speculation aside, here's Primus v2

              • A Singapore Malaysian conflict.... now there's a new idea!! It would be great to see a scenario based smaller what if conflicts that you don't too often think about. Like Pablostuka's Spanish-Morrocan war scenario.

If Singapore wasn't supported by the US or Australia, they would be easily devastated.

That axiom also applies to many other nations...

                      • Singapore's army would easily be able to stop a Malayan invasion.

Seeing as the Merkava is optimised for operations in urban terrain and keeping casualties low, I'm more then prepared to believe such rumours. Singapore's AMX-13s and Centurians are very long in the tooth, and they've yet to make any responce to Malaysia's purchase of T-80 equivalents from Poland (unless you count the Apache Longbows which were bought a few years ago ).

Well, you do have a little bit of insider information there

Re a Malaysia vs Singapore war: Singapore would win the war, and easily. Upon full mobalisation (which aparently takes only a few hours(!)), the Singaporean Army is actually larger then anything Malaysia could realistically field. Singapore's Army is much better equipped then Malaysia's (especially in artillery) and training is ment to be fairly good, with annual Brigade sized exercises being held at the Australian Army's fantastic facilities at the Sholewater Bay Training Area in Queensland. Morale seems to be a problem though in peacetime - however, if the Malaysians turned off the water, then I imagine that morale would improve dramatically.

Furthermore, the Sinapore Air Force is unquestionably the best air force anywhere south of China, and would totally slaughter the RMAF. The Singapore Navy also outclasses the Royal Malaysian Navy.

In short, the 'hot' part of any Malayisa-Singapore war would be over by the time Australian or American forces arrived. Singapore would struggle to win the peace though - the country is too small to keep a large part of it's army mobalised for more then a few days, and any cut-off in shipping and air movements would cripple the national economy.

Incidently, I can't recomend Tim Huxley's book 'Defending the Lion City' highly enough.

I have actually entertained this idea for a while but unfortuantely I lack the neccessary know how to make a complete scenario...

You are too kind, but like I said before most of them aren't by me. They are the collected recoloured works of various great authors including yourself

And anyway none of the recolours done by me are any good. No matter how much I try none of them are in the standard Civ2 palette

Nope... but I certainly have an idea for someone who may want to! What if the TNI led by General Wiranto staged a coup after the fall of Suharto in 1997 and launched an invasion of Indonesia's neighbours?

                                Well, you're the expert.

Does anyone have an AMX-13, Scorpion light tank, or PT-76 so that I can finish my collection?
