Here is a type of terrain I made for an old scenario Called Dracul of Transylvania. The terrain is called "impaled." It becomes useless and cannot be converted back to any other kind of terrain.

If only I could get such enthusiastic response from my "serious" scenarios. Dracul was an in-joke for the most part.
Um, why do the laughing smiley things still wear santa hats? It's february, isn't it?Lost in America.

It might be your browser's cache. I'm seeing regular smileys, not even sickly pink heart-shaped ones.

would the same problem cause avatars not to display?

No, the in-joke was the power of diplomats. I was complaining to a friend that the dip unit was ridiculously powerful. They don't require upkeep, they're cheap, and, if they're in the scenario, you can simply buy/build a bunch of them and attack cities. When that happens, structures in the cities simply *poof* and disappear. Centuries of building in a city just vanish. It's like they're evil Djinni or something. They can also damage, and, more importantly, take control of enemy units.
Which led my friend to describe them as vampires.
We laughed and then the idea struck me.
The rest . . . is history.Lost in America.

I like the rabbit with carrot (3th in 1st line): "have you ever seen a rabbit with glasses???"..."Dilexi iustitiam, odivi iniquitatem, propterea morior in exilio" [PAPA GREGORIUS VII +1085] - ("He amado la justicia, he odiado la iniquidad, por eso muero en exilio") - ("I loved justice, I hated unfairness, that's why I die in exile") - (J'ai aimé la justice, j'ai détesté l'iniquité, c'est pourquoi je meurs en exil") - ("Ich liebte Gerechtigkeit und hasste Ungerechtigkeit, deshalb sterbe ich im Exil")
