Here's a slightly less impressive pair of straw houses. One has the same type of roof as the others, and the second has a roof more consistent with the straw theme. Have fun.

        Wishlist: trenches and 'burbs

I was wondering if someone here wouldn't mind posting/creating a nice trenches terrain graphic for me. I need a 1 square graphic (ie one that could go in the plains or swamp slot), not a grouped terrain graphic (like forests, hills.)

Also, I need a good suburbs graphic (for air bases, as in RF.) The graphic in RF is a little too modern and doesn't quite gel with the city set I'm using. I'll post that city set below; something similar but more 'spread out' and with less industry would be good for suburbs. (Thats a very nice city set btw St.Leo )

These cities by Hobbes may be what you're after:

Thanks Case (and you too Hobbes )

I whipped this up from those graphics. I'm still not sure how well it goes with the rest of the graphics I'm using... but we'll see.

Any other graphics for the suburbs or trenches would still be greatly appreciated.

I've added a fence and drawn two more buildings. At this rate, I'd finish the Sistine Chapel ceiling by 8096 CE.

Do you guys prefer the fence or the white outline?

On closer inspection I noticed that your cities are very Europa Universalis-inspired. Looks nice.

Only four of the Euro-style buildings are EU-inspired. The rest are based on old Munoz and Nemo artwork. On the other hand, all of the muslim buildings are EU-inspired because I didn't find anything worth imitating in the Civ2 world.

The temple complex of Takht-e Solaiman it is. Thanks a lot

Do you have any photos or links to sites with pics of the site, so I can whip up an icon? I searched for it under both names through google and got nothing but a few pictures of mountains.

Alternatively, pick the most appropriate icon from this little compilation, which is what came to mind when I thought 'Persian' and 'temple-complex':

Here are a couple of links with nice pictures (BTW, I think Takht-e Solaiman is the typical Iranian transcription, while Takht-i Sulaiman is the non-Iranian one...). Also an icon showing what I thought of (anyone want to make it look good?).

I'll probably call it 'Adhur Gushnasp', as the scenario is set in the ancient era.

Thank you for those excellent pictures; I whipped up a quick little icon from the top link you posted. Its attached below.

One last question: where should I place it? The sites say that the temple was to the north, in the Iranian province of Azerbaijan; my Persian civ only has two cities in that area, Tiflis and Atropatene. Which one is it closer to?

No, although ToT's Fantasy scenario might have something like that. I don't have it installed right now.

                            1. Do you guys prefer the original cities or the darkened ones in the attachments?

                            2. Are there any miscellaneous criticisms? The Orthodox city style has some decent domes for a change.

                                1. Are there any good BeBro/Nemo-style pics of 19th century ships? I am particularly interested in Clippers, Indiamen, Ironclads, and small armoured vessels.

                                2. Is there a tutorial available on how to draw such ships? I don't follow anything close to the steps outlined in the tutorial below when drawing my buildings, but it did set me on the right track.
