  • The constantly improved quality & sheer quantity of new units is the real lifeblood for Civ 2 nowdays. Despite its greater audience, I do not think Civ3 can currently aspire to the actual variety (and quality) of new scenarios being produced.
Bottom line: Civ2 is gradualy matching or outperforming Civ3 aesthetically. If we promote Civ2 scenarios more aggresively to the Civ community, we might just spark a Civ2 rennaisance in terms of participation...

Fairline, you keep people in the Civ2 ranks with your work. I feel I can't find the words to express my appreciation.

Truly superb chariots - some of the best I have seen.

Would be interesting if you could do a series of chariots through history - from ancient to Roman.

      Cheers!

      • Yup- what all these guys said.
Fairline, it seems more fun and interesting to play a scenario with your artwork. I could not thank you enough.
You have made peace with the evil Wheredehekowi tribe-we demand you tell us if they are a tribe that is playing this scenario.
We also agree not to crush you, if you teach us the tech of warp drive and mental telepathy and give 10 trinkets

I've yet to see a units.bmp with the 1968 ManU squad.

Dave, you've given me a great idea for a scenario. Ever played Subbuteo?

                          • Hmmmm, crowd noise provided through events, players all have the carrier flag with no attack points, the ball is an air unit, soccer field terrain tiles... oh my God! Fairline, I think you may be on to something.

                            • Ok, about "sports" games . . . . .

                              This was done once before.

Many years ago, there was a wargame source that some of us used and remember. It was a magazine called Strategy & Tactics, and the gimmick was that each issue came with an Avalon Hill-style-wargame. I recall the issue that the genii at S & T put out with a "sports" wargame called "Scrimmage." It was about (the American version of) the game of football. I didn't like it. At all.

And I wasn't the only one.

In each issue of S & T, a feedback card was included and the results of each feeback survey was also published in the magazine. In the entire history of S & T, there was no other game that received worse feedback ratings than Scrimmage. Everyone hated it. They even got mail about hating it. They didn't ever do a "sports" wargame again.

                              Lost in America.
