Hey finbar when did i get disconected. Did you get that message. I finished my turn with four seconds to spare then got disconected.
I got the message about you having 3 minutes to go and saved. You had your turn and I saved again straight after it. We should be fine. You'd probably gone by the time I saved the second time.

Makeo was the one expending the energy last night.
Oh, and he played Civ beforehand, too.

So how was your day? Get a lot of script writing done?
cough, cough, YES cough
Cleaning up my desk, actually. Or trying to. Discovering bills months overdue. You know the problem - toss the envelope on the desk, it promptly disappears under a poultice of papers, cigarette ash and God knows what else. Sometimes I think I need a tetanus shot just to sit at my desk.
The producers from Brissy are currently in France trying to flog one of the things we developed while I develop another one. This is a very strange industry. The networks and producers all travel to a big product sales/buying expo in Cannes called M.I.P. They sit down and try to do deals. Instead of doing it here and saving an awful lot of money. Truly bizarre. Of course, they try to sell to overseas networks and distributors while they're there, but dealing with our local networks there could only be deemed - um, a junket.
Mrs finbar went a couple of years ago. Popped over to M.I.P. after she'd cruised the canals of France on a canal barge with some friends stuffing her face with cheese and red wine.
Some people.

I don't know why writers don't get more junkets - hardly seems fair so much of the junketing goes to the suits.
Writers seem to get treated like "people we don't talk about" in the film industry. I suppose the same goes for camera people and most of the others that actually make the product. Maybe because it destroys the "magic".
I'm reading an interesting bio of John Wayne by Gary Wills at the moment btw - goes a lot into the behind the scenes people who made the myth, both Wayne's and John Ford's.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

It's historical, dating back to the earliest days of the Hollywood studio system. The writers were, literally, employees. They went to work in their office at the studio. Their work was frequently re-written by the writers in the next office. Directors, while also employees, had a higher profile, literally, because there they were on the set. And, once a film is in production, the director's clout increases - he or she has established a tone and style, he or she can threaten to walk at any time, et al. Thus the directors have a profile and clout. Some writers do these days, but there aren't many.

Both very interesting men. Their ugly politics aside.

Interesting stats - looks to me like deity was building units pretty much all session and added 50 and makeo built about 30 units - probably mostly after deity attacked him - er sorry, stole techs from him. At the rate makeo is building units I'd say he'll get on par with deity next session. Talk about an arms race.
My total unit numbers have fairly stable, mainly because I've been upgrading everything and retiring obsolete units as I go.

Remember "follow me home and f*ck me" shoes? Probably not. Before your time. Anyway, the concept springs to mind.

Just want to clarify something here because of something Makeo said last night, "so you swear that it is only diplos and will accept the tag of liar if there is anything else"
This is OK as a civ leader to another civ leader. So if I did lie I want to be clear that it is the civ leader that's lied and NOT me the person. I don't really like person to person deals and assurances. The way I've played, generally speaking, is in that of role mode. I don't see it as a nice gentlemanly game of tennis. I see it as a serious competetion, like playing squash with my best friend. I don't consider on court tactics/deceptions as anything to do with our real life friendship...
Are we on the same page?
As if an attacking civ is going to admit to another civ that units are on their way. You have to make decisions on what you see and hear and sometimes other civ's leaders are deceptive.
In real life I'm the nicest guy you'd ever meet
Just ask finbar and Horsie...
