  • Arriba! (Spain wins ww2 scenario)

Someone wrote about that challenge a few months ago: winning ww2 scenario without time limit but playing as Franco, benighted leader of the Spanish.

I finished it yesterday (august 1961) and I wish to tell you: it's REAL FUN.
In june 1940, Spain is about 15 techs late compared with the Allies or the Axis, almost no roads, almost no mines, 5th civ on the powergraph, way behind the French and miles away from the Russians, the Axis or the Allies.

If you like building a strong civ, I believe that is needed.
If you enjoy fighting, you can't avoid it (the Russians lost more than 800 units in my game).
Nukes? Yes sir (I tried to avoid nuclear war; nevertheless more than 20 nukes were blown).

Have a try! You'll enjoy it.

(personally I enjoyed it so much that I am now busy playing it as French)

Well done LaFayette - you obviously found a lot of time for Civ while on vacation ...
Don't distract me, my Carthaginian Ironclads are massing at the gates of Rome and its still the third century BC - I certainly am not going to beat DaveV's ?43? turns, but I'm anticipating a sub century finish - are your dates for total conquest or all objectives?
    Again, congratulations ...

I did that three years ago or something like that, if you want to change goverment go to a neutral city and steal techonologies, when you steal Fundamentalism you have the chance to change goverment...

In my game I was ready to invade Russia in 1970 there wasn´t any other civ in the game

            YES, there is a way.
You are allowed to change as soon as you discover (or steal or trade for or receive as a gift) a new government. Do it at once. Next turn is too late.

Latest news on the BBC (ww2 scenario, French):
August 1956, surprise attack by french forces (main task force = 30 howitzers); Berlin falls; Axis empire splits into 3 smaller empires; Aztec rebels in Benelux and northern France; American rebels in Italy and Balkans.
Blitzkrieg going on. (wir müssen unser lebensraum finden)

To make it clear to civsplitting specialists:
No civ was split into 3 in 1 blow.
                The sequence was as follows:
French take Berlin = American rebels in Italy + Axis capital moved to Dresden
French take Dresden (on the same turn) = Aztec rebels in Benelux + Axis capital moved to Prague (ST: sorry I mean Praha).

Not allowed with FW, I tried. I will reinstall 2.42 and try again.

yeah, that doesn't work in FW... otherwise I'd just switch to Fundy, but that won't work on my highly intellectual version of the game... BTW, is Democracy a better idea for this scenario? I suppose not...

                      I used Democracy.
Try Fundy, if you feel like it, and let us know.

BTW here are the latest news on the BBC:
December 1960: All russian objectives have become french (purple color). (french rebels, dark blue, appeared when french troops, purple colored, entered Moscow, but they did not last long). French (democratic, purple colored) troops are now in London and Washington.
One fat city named New York and a few middle size objectives remain foreign.
Victory in april 1961? Our reporter will let you know.

All right, you super-deity-ACinBCwithOCsize1 civ masters, how about winning as the Neutrals in the WW2 scenario? That looks like an ugly undertaking, altho unlimited time would make it possible for the civ whiz. I'm not at that skill level, so maybe I'll try the Spaniards first...

I must admit trying it with the Neutrals is tempting Your allied with the Allies to start off with so you can just go to them for techs. Take over scandinavia, then send a couple transports full of howies to take Britain. Should be easy from then on

Decided to have a go as Neutrals. Not as difficult as I thought - it's October 1949 and the Neutral Scandinavian and Iranian howitzers are gathering in Bergen for the invasion of England. Taking England should be easy, but attacking the Axis is gonna be hell, they've got Manhattan Project and there's no way I'm getting the laser anytime soon. Although I was soon reduced to 2 cities, it was suprisingly easy, building airports in Tehran and Stockholm and airlifiting freights over to be transported to England produced tons of cash fortunately since I needed to research robotics myself.

Contest: Whoever wins as the neutruals, the turks, and the spanish wins!

(If you can win as the turks or neutruals it goes without saying that you can win as the allies axis french and russians

All I need is to win as the neutruals (I've won the other 2). This will be difficult!
