Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
Is it possible to edit Tot sprites and create some ships or warriors diferentent (that is more realists) - oh!that ugly destroyer !- Can I find a simple free windows sprites editor ? Merci d'avance ..
I think there was a poster (DracoOmega?) who figured out the format/began designing an editor but I don't know how it turned out.
Try searching in this forum for (much) older threads.
Thank you for advices reply about sprites; Now I know it will not be easy to modificate them.
However I succeed chanching one to each other simply by reversing their lines in "Rules text". It works : I have know a big cargo boat (ex "destroyer") to carry troops and a light torpilleur ("ex "transport") to escort warships .
I think one of the reasons that made the succes of Civ 2 was that possibility (so obviously simple and so funny) to create its owns units so I hope it was same for tot'sprites in a small editor.I found somes on web but they did'nt recognize Tot'ones.
After a much extended absence, I think I've decided to come back from the dead :-)
I apologize for dissappearing for such a long time. I didn't really mean to abandon the project but I lost interest in the game for a while and got bogged down with other projects so it kind of got lost at the bottom of the pile. I hate to admit that laziness also played a part in it.... ;-) In any event, I profusely apologize.
I've decided to unearth my notes and attempt to rewrite my editor so that it will actually be useful enough to be releasable this time. The old version was rife with bugs and unreadable code but I've improved a great deal as a programmer since then so this time I think that I'll be able to do it the right way.
I know that I've showed up before just long enough to dissappear again, but this time I intend to get it done soon even if I have to force myself to do it :-)
Thanks DracoOmega it would be great if you could build a sprite éditor as somes exist in other games (i think also at "Klick and play").
Perhaps Tot has a long life forwards because it contains all super features of The inimitable CIV 2 with animated units (and perhaps - thanks to you - customizables) ! !
I wonder if Civ 3 (not released here at this time) is not too ambitious, too heavy, then less funny ?
Long life to Test of time !!! :b
I'd really like to encourage you D-O. I think one of the reasons ToT didn't "stick" as well as it deserves to IS because of the lack of an animated sprite editor. It was a mistake on the part of Microprose not to release one. I'm still making ToT scenarios and I know a number of others who are also, especially given the total failure of Civ3 in this regard. So good luck on your project D-O! If you need a field tester or any feedback, I'll be happy to oblige.

I'll second Tecumseh's words, D-O. I am equally disappointed with Civ III and am seriously considering making scenarios for ToT. I have not purchased the game yet, but I am intrigued about the extended events, units and techs enough to give it a try.
As I have designed many scenarios for Civ II MGE I hope I will be able to get the hang of it before long.
Speaking of ToT's units not working properly, has anybody else come across the bizarre behavior of some of the sprites lower down on the units.bmp file?
I've deactivated all sprites and so the game should be reverting to the bmp file for its unit graphics. Also I have created a special bmp file for the scenario itself, and placed it in the right place etc.
It seems that all the units starting from two slots right from the Explorer all act funny. I have a picture of a special unit for that slot (actually, it's a piece of Hill but that's hardly important) and instead of showing up a hill unit, it shows a strange avian unit from the sci-fi game.
I assume you started your scenario as a sci-fi game. ToT has an unpredictable and obnoxious habit of finding it's original sprites and running them overtop of whatever static image you've tried to replace them with. I simply make a folder in original and put all the sprite files (don't forget Resource and Static spr. files) in it; same thing for fantasy and sci-fi. Safely locked up, they can't intrude on your scenario.

What's going on? Can anybody help me?
That is same problem I am having in the Original Game in ToT...the units are not showing up as they should I get the Extended Game's icons and not what I put there, or I get what put there or someone did up in a scenario but once I move them they show up as the ones that were from the Extened game or the normal game in scenarios where all of the icons have been changed.

And the answer is the same. If you put ALL your sprites, including the resource and static sprites, in a holding folder; 1 each for the original, sci-fi and fantasy games, then they will not bother you. This WILL work, and if not, then something else is awry.

Where the heck do you live?
I thought Civ 3 had already been scatered all over the world!
Well, let me warn you that Civ 3 is dull and boring as hell! I played it in November, and just once in December. Never touched it again. I have better things to do with my time, but the time taken between turns isn't enough to do anything positive!

I think DracOmega is sleeping again... Or he did n't succeed.. Or he has been captured by Carthaginiens..
I'm sure if we could find a way to draw our owns units in a réalistic, fantastic or humoristic way, that will be a new birth for Tot ! Imagine lots of units lib. on the web... running, flying, swimming from past empires, space, seas, jurassic !..
Four pictures in each direction (upwards, diag, right...mirror) that's ok ? (like it was in Klick 'n Play animator or GIF animators)...
