A convergence of nomadic tribes, followed by a night of heavy wine consumption, determined the following: There are two groups ready to end this nomadic lifestyle and settle permanently, Between these two groups there is knowledge of Irrigation, Mining, and Roads, as well as, Alphabet, Bronze Working, and Horseback Riding. (Wine Making goes without saying.) One group heads in a somewhat Southerly direction and discovers a land rich with Fish and Pheasant. Hence the Southern predilection for hunting and fishing. The second group heads in a somewhat Northerly direction and finds a land rich with Fruit (mainly Grapes) and Whales. How this precipitated the Northern customs of overcrowding, pollution, and general rudeness is somewhat convoluted. Further exploration turns up a small village whose people are eager to share their knowledge of Map Making. Finally the town of Persopolis is founded which leads to another night of heavy wine consumption. The town elders decide that some sort of orderly rule is needed to reign in some of this drunken debauchery. It is also decided that some sort of road system is needed to facilitate the trading of goods, as well as, ideas. The second city of Pasargadae is founded followed by the now customary drunken debauchery. An urgent memo is dispatched to our scientist to ask about this Code of Laws we have heard rumor about. We are assured they are close to its discovery. There is some mention of "beta testing", but what this means is anybody's guess. Persopolis produces a unit known as a Phalanx to help keep order. We are told some of the wild horses we have seen running about are being herded and we may someday be able to mount a unit to ride them and explore our surroundings. Our scientists report the "bugs" are out of the system and our new Code of Laws is ready for use. As the stench is somewhat stifling these days, our scientists are asked to look into a better way of disposing of our dead. Meanwhile, a horse-mounted unit is indeed completed in Persopolis and Pasargadae completes a Phalanx of their own. Persopolis is now working towards gathering together another group of explorers to perhaps go out and found yet another city while Pasargadae is preparing some Horseman of their own. While all this is going on, there is some disturbing news coming from the palace. In a rather bizarre accident involving several young women, a lot of wine, and a weak heart, we find ourselves leaderless.

      The Rein of Josefus I

      3000 BC
After the word of Scheherezade I's demise hits the streets the next morning, Lord Josefus I takes the throne as Emperor. His first order of business is turn these drunks into a thriving civilization. To do this he changes the production in Pasargadae to settlers so that they can settle and conquer more of this land. He also orders Persepolis's horsemen to explore along the river south of Pasargadae.

      2900 BC
Persepolis's horsemen discover the remains of a village. Inside these remains they find 50 coins of gold. Luckily, Josefus' tax men collect the gold from the horsemen before they splurge it all on wine and good times.

      2850 BC
Reaching the end of the river and seeing much more land to the southeast, Josefus orders the horsemen to return north and see what's east of Pasargadae.

      2650 BC
The Wise Men Of Persia have figured out a way to dispose our dead loved ones in a more respectable manner. They call it Ceremonial Burial. We now ask them to develop a better method of building our homes, as the straw and stick homes we have now keep getting blown over.

      2600 BC
Persepolis has gathered together a band of settlers who wish to get away from their drunken neighbors and found a village for themselves. Josefus orders the village to put together a unit of phalanx to protect these brave settlers. He orders the settlers to go north to build roads and find a nice piece of land to build a nice village. Josefus has also ordered the horsemen to go north also and help these settlers find some good land.

      2450 BC
It is a merry time in Persepolis. The whole town gathers to laugh at Josefus and the settlers he's sent to the north. The horsemen have found nothing but forests and swamps up there. Now the settlers--with scorn in their heart for Josefus and the mocking neighbors they left behind--must find a new place to call home.

      2400 BC
Pasargadae has gathered their own settlers together. Being closer to the southlands that the horsemen have already explored, they rejoice in their prospects. Meanwhile Pasargadae will also gather together a phalanx unit to protect whatever village these settlers found.

      2250 BC
Persepolis has gathered together a phalanx unit to defend the still yet unfounded village Persepolis' settlers are wandering around for. Josefus has now commanded Persepolis to construct a colossus statue of bronze in his likeness. He figures that this will help bring great deals of trade to the village.
Meanwhile Pasargadae's settlers have already found a nice piece of land and found the village of Susa. Susa begins to gather together horsemen to further explore the land around us and not make the same mistakes twice.

      2150 BC
After all this time Persepolis' settlers have find a nice spot of land near the base of Mt. Scheherezade to the east of Pasargadae. They call their new village Arbela and begin to gather a new batch of settlers to build more villages in their favor.

      2100 BC
The Wise Men Of Persia have once again proven their worth with the discovery of Masonry. Now our people can build good solid homes and buildings. The wine makers of Persia are growing weary all the fake gold people keep trying to give them in exchange for their wine. We have decided that the Wise Men Of Persia shall invent a new way of purchasing items.

      2050 BC
Persepolis' phalanx have finally made it all the way to Arbela to protect that city, and Pasargadae have gathered together their own phalanx to protect Susa. Luckily for the brave soldiers of Pasargadae's phalanx, they don't have to travel so far.
Meanwhile word has spread from the palace that Josefus I was killed by some poison wine. Word has it that not everyone is happy to build a huge bronze statue in the likeness of rather bland ruler. By the morning a new leader will be chosen.

        The Reign of Iorrixerxes I

        2000 BC
After a short meeting, an inexperienced general named Iorrixerxes I is pronounced the new leader. Rumour goes he was the only one with the same size of feet as the late Josefus I, so work on the Colossus could continue without delay.
The phalanx from Pasargadae makes its way towards Susa, while the garrison in Arbela strengthens its positions. The scouts up North venture a little further North hoping for somewhat better conditions.

        1750 BC
Word is received the Russians have started building a Colossus of their own. The now two horsemen units start exploring the vicinity of Susa. Answering to a call of expansion from the Emperor, eager Susa citizens prepare for a journey to colonize more land.

        1700 BC
The Empire is prosperous indeed! The results of a census taken last year indicate the Empire now has 100,000 inhabitants. After years of training a phalanx of Pasargadae is ready to defend the empire, they will most probably be relocated to a new city in the near future. As a new boost to Persian economy, Pasargadae started building the foundations of large square, pointy structures, which the most learned among them called Pyramids. With little planning before hand, this might well turn out to become something wholly different! The future will tell.

        1650 BC
Small riots are smashed down by imperial forces throughout the empire. Being told they were the wealthiest men on Earth, one stranger, named Herodotus, had claimed otherwise. Judging from the manuscript he carried, as well as the juicy stories of far-flung empires, citizens could only conclude that they were third in line.
Meanwhile, the horsemen, still abroad, are discovering fertile plains beyond imagination.

        1600 BC
The people's first reactions are strange: "That little metal thing worth that much?!", "Mummy, I wanna have that shiny one!", but soon they cannot live without it... Money!
After a suspiciously long time alone with his attractive, young fortune-teller, Iorrixerxes I, seemingly intoxicated, decides to continue research with something the fortune-teller predicts to be called "writing".

        1550 BC
The first signs of an approaching cataclysm, or just a coincidence? A strange construction of unknown origin appears off the coast of Susa, while Persepolis is disturbed by severe riots. A disappointed scout turns back to Susa from the limited lands to the East.

        1500 BC
The oracle predicting the cataclysm is offered to the gods. Persepolis riots dissolve and the ship near Susa batters itself against the nearby coast, one dying crew member reveals its Russian origin. While citizens rejoice, tired horsemen Southeast of Arbela only manage to plunder a local tribe for 25 gold.

        1450 BC
Some of the tablets on the Russian wreck seem to contain building orders for the Russian Colossus. Without these orders, Russians are forced to stop working on their project.
But foreign contact isn't over yet, a Zulu mounted mission reaches Persepolis from the North, resulting in a trade of sciences, Warrior Code for Map Making. A peace treaty is signed. But, maintaining vigilance, one of our scouts is ordered to keep the Zulu mission from entering the Persian heartland.

        1350 BC
Southeast of Susa, a team of explorers meets a ferocious band of horsemen. Their leader is defeated and the band decided to join the Persain cause.

        1150 BC
Bold citizens unite in Arbela and leave for a better place to live. Remaining workers start working on the Persians' first ship. To ensure the safety of the colonists, a phalanx is sent to meet them from Pasargadae. For now the safety is garuanteed by two groups of horsemen Southward bound.

        1050 BC
Receiving good news from around the empire, Iorrixerxes, in his joy, missed a step while descending the stairs from his high-seated throne. Tumbling down the few stairs, he fell face-forward in the abundant display of weaponry around the throne. Alas!
