Omsk Defensive Line
0300 Hours
22 TOA-1-4 MRLS's moved into position near the front. The night sky was illuminated for several minutes as over 150 rockets ignited and streaked off into the distance. The MRLS's quickly pulled back as soon as their job was over, heading to a resupply depot to reload with standard ammunition.
The rockets, meanwhile, were flying over the Kazak lines, slowly arcing down as their 28km journey reached its end. 200 feet over the men, they exploded in a firestorm, putting even the air around them aflame and burning all oxygen within nearly a mile almost instantly. Over 1000 men died of asfyxiation within a few seconds. Those were the lucky ones.
The 2000-degree inferno fell upon the Kazaks, melting metal, plastic, and most gruesomely, skin. Tanks and APC's were turned into blobs of molten steel within a minute, the men inside dead much sooner. Infantry on foot was simply fried, the flames burning nearly all skin on the body in seconds' time. A little piece of hell had befallen the Kazaks. This was only the beginning.
Four Siberian Armored Divisions, supported by two Motorized Divisions, rammed into the Kazak line right at the point where the FAE's had just hit. Over a thousand T-72's smashed through the resistance of the invaders, and within two hours the Siberian Army had effectively split the Kazak invasion in two. The Siberians then swept east, gutting the weaker portion of the Kazak offensive.
In the west, two MiG-29 wings, two MiG-31 wings, one Su-27 wing, one Su-30 wing, three Tu-22 squadrons, and one Tu-95 squadron were all flying high above the Kazak western advance. Air superiority had been attained early over the small Kazak air force, and the invasion was paying for it. The large bombing group loosed over 600 ASM's within five minutes' time, absolutely annihilating any armor the Kazaks had brought with them in thei invasion. Then, the fighters swooped in low, opeing up with the gatling guns. SAM's managed to down 31 of the planes, but not before the Kazak western advance was in shambles.
Two Armored Divisions, Three Mechanized Divisions, and Three Motorized Divisions quickly moved to drive into the Kazak advance. The Motorized Divisions headed west to flank the invasion while the Mechanized and Amored Divisions thrust into the enemy force, now made up almost solely of infantry. The armored spearhead quickly made headway, and was relieved of heavy fighting once the Motorized Divisions came out of the sweep from the Urals and crumpled the Kazak line.
Everything was set for a counterattack....
