  • The Art of War Geopolitics

I am back. Soon I will be using the FTP to get my Art of War stuff back and update it.

But this forum will now be like Civ2 in the year 2000. Players control nations, IRL, and there is a little alternate history. It is October 2000 in the forum.

It will be real and serious.

    We will be extra real.

But this is more TW than DoW. Conquering, etc is good stuff, and interesting things are allowed. But not too extreme.

Now, this is a lot like Civ2. With the revolutions, modern Civ2, really. Partisans will pop up in places if you capture a nation, etc, etc, etc. It will be fun, and like Civ in the geopolitical sense.

    It will be FUN.

Every nation is to provide a military.
Every nation is to provide news threads.

I am hoping that ScottF can be our map maker.

    Well, the moderators:

    Polaris
ScottF (he said he would a while ago)
    Bolo
    Master on High

    All mods can post events.

Note: Giancarlo, you CAN join. Just please... let us moderate you. Bolo will be serious, and so will you. Spain's economy is not as large as France, Germany, and the UK.

No multiple claims (unless approved with close circumstances).

The US will be split by the Mississippi River, and I will post an alternate history.
    East: United States of America
    West: Pacific Republic

    CLAIMS:
    Polaris: Pacific Republic
    WarRogue: Siberia (is having revolution)
    Scott: ?
    Bolo: United States of America
    Master on High: Poland
    Mandela: Great Britain
    Spartan: France
    Bearcat: Germany
    Hans: ?
    Mao: China

well...it's not like Japan is that small...if you want a country that's fairly small and gives you something to do, then take Turkey or Egypt or another nation that has a GDP of around 300 billion instead of 10 Trillion.

BTW, Japan is pretty damn boring cos you can't build up an army for a long time.

          But still play!!!

err... so to play, do we just post something happening in our claimed nations?

                I'd like to join!
                I claim Vietnam!
                A couple of questions though;
1)This is suupose to be realistic right? Like no Viet Nam taking over the world or Canada having an army or is this semi-realistic thing like it can developped? Say Japan wants to build an army so they rewrite the constitution? or sometiming like that?
                2) Can there be treaties, aid packages, bilateral ties everything like in the real world?

Thanks for ansewring all these annnoying qurstions .

"err... so to play, do we just post something happening in our claimed nations?"

k...every nation has to have a News Thread that's only there to inform other players what's going on in that country. Changes in policy, government leader (ie - elections), events, etc. are all posted in there to keep people informed.

"This is suupose to be realistic right? Like no Viet Nam taking over the world or Canada having an army or is this semi-realistic thing like it can developped? Say Japan wants to build an army so they rewrite the constitution? or sometiming like that?"

Just about anything can happen. It just has to take place over a reasonable amout of time to make it realistic (ie - Japan has to go through several years of political changes before amending the constitution to allow an armed force other than the SDF.)

"Can there be treaties, aid packages, bilateral ties everything like in the real world?"

That's what the forum is run on.

Every type of treaty available IRL is available for you to accept/offer, and you could make up your own agreements...although I'm not sure what's left to agree to.

Well, although I'm very involved with Destiny of the World, I think I might try a small nation, maybe Belgium...

                    We'll see how it goes.

BTW, if anyone new to war forums needs some help getting started, feel free to talk with me - I've been involved with everything from Today's World and The World '99 on Apolyton well over a year ago, to the current Destiny of the World II.

Cal, I'd actually prefer you choose a smaller nation because you are a new player. Egypt or Turkey would be fine, or Greece, Romania... all that.

And arms threads are good to have to, and we will fill everyone in on those as we go on.

Let's get some vets in here! I echo David Floyd's words.

Polaris: since you asked so nicely, ok I'll pick a different, smaller nation.

*claims Greece, and lets Japan float away*
