Good to hear from you Hans99!
Scouse Git died a few years ago I believe. I never spoke to him on Apolyton but from what I have read he was a very popular character and is much missed.
I expect your Balkan thread is still around, you may have to go back a few pages to track it down though!

I am still here, luckily my intertube machine is still working just fine . To be honest, at times I've been afraid to come back here to the forums due to the fact that I did just disappear and left so many projects that I had cared about behind and unfinished. The thing is I do think of Civ II every day and of the great scenario's such as Vendetta, Blood and Steel, Atomic Eagle and Malta just to name a few. Heck, I'm still convinced any one of Curt's scenario's could make for a major studio motion picture.
I would still like to be involved, I'll have to do a great deal of catching up first though. So what I have missed over the last three years friends?

Life's been good Harry, I can't complain. I still haven't found any PC game out there that has come close to deserving a decades worth of my attention like Civ II did.
Like I said, I would still love to be involved in the community. The problem is I just don't know where to pick up after all this time. If I might ask, what are the really big projects and builds under way in the community right now?

The SL ain't what it used to be Chris. There doesn't seem to be as much activity any more, but behind the scenes Tech has several great projects underway (come to think of it you could say that about Tech on any given month in the last 10 years ), McM always seems to have a couple of scenarios boiling on the pot (I remember seeing an intriguing ancient Greek scenario), there's EZRhino's 'Sea Kings' Bronze Ager which I'm dying to see. There's also a virtually complete Roman scenario by an old master...

Starting to design scenarios is great fun. I find that finishing them off can seem like a chore, especially when the AI won't behave as you would want it to. I am nearly finished with a ToT version of Aeterna Civitas (III) and a vastly altered and updated ToT version of my original WWII Europa scenario called Fortress Europe. For the past few months (or possibly years) I just don't seem to have the energy to put in the work required to finish these scenarios off and I don't want to release them knowing there is still work to do! After I have finished these two I think I will concentrate on multiplayer scenarios as that is mostly what I play nowadays.
There are a number of projects on the go such as Sobieski III, The Sea Kings, Curtsiblings secrative Apocolyptic epic and the Roman epic by one of the designers of old (did he announce his return? My memory is failing me!). There are loads of other projects too but I expect most will never be finished.

Unfortunatelly the sometimes very sparse time is one of the reasons why it takes so many time to finish the scenario. I´m sure that´s the reason for most of us.
But I promise you all that I will finish my two projects (AWI and ACW), at the moment I´m working on another scenario which I planned long time ago. It plays in the Medieval Era, covering the Middle Eastern.
The movie Kingdom of Heaven inspired me to create a scenario with the Crusader States as protagonists.

I've not been posting much, due to massive activity on the freelance front since summer.
Working in professional comics and it takes up 99% of my time. Even my own cartooning
projects are on hold due to this gruelling, but awesome fun work. But, I'm still into CIV.
I've got a new version of Eurasian Wars ready, a new fantasy scenario, and I am working
on a redux of "Bitterfrsot - Thunder on the Tundra"...All should be uploaded during winter.
I plan to get "Ostfront" finished and released too, I cannot abide an unfinished project...
So, while things might be a bit quiet, myself and others are still working away in our many
ideas and scenarios - I hope we can forge on in 2011!

Hmm, was surfing around the net and stumbled in here. A most nostalgic experience
I'm also impressed. I thought the civ 2 community had been active a long time back then, to see this forum still being active...No Fighting here, this is the war room!

Are you Henrik Lohmanders the maker of Carolus Gustavus Reagis by any chance? Good to see one of the old guard back at the Scenario League. We are still just about ticking along here with a lot of slow burning projects on the go. Every now and then a scenario will finally get finished, though the pace is way, way slower than in the SL's hayday. Most of the old members have moved on to new things but there is a steady trickle of newcomers to keep the place running. I for one had a great time searching through the old archives and downloading all the great scenarios out there when I first got into modding Civ2 several years ago. Good to hear from you mate!
