No. Thread titles are in English and German, as are their contents. Non-German-speaking people play there; they post about it in the Civ2 SL sub-forum. It looks pretty much like PBEM scenario games only, mostly MGE, perhaps a few ToT. As far as I know, it's the most active place for such games on the Internet.

It also might be worth dropping your contact details in CFC's Civ2 Multiplayer & PBEM sub-forum. There's not a lot of activity, but the same could be said of this joint.

Your right Catfish, much of the content is in english.
Furthermore, once you have signed up you can change the forums layout to english, leaving only a handful of things to translate.

I remember playing against my friend once with two laptops linked up and we were both moving at the same time but just had to wait for both of us to press return before we could advance the turns. I have never experimented with this again. Is this what you mean by multiplayer?

At Civ Webring we play scenarios and post the saves on the forum for the next player to download and play. I just realised we still call them "play by e-mail games" although there is no e-mailing involved

I think the original civ2 is way too unbalanced for competitive play though.
But might be interested in trying a game, nonetheless.

There was a file that could be added that allowed simultaneous movement. It sucked.
Regular Civ II MP is just turn based, and shames SP.
