  • Patch ready!
    Here ya are, PietH!

Anyone playing the Allies can try out the new events and rules for this civ.
Sadly due to the moving of the UN wonder to London, anyone wishing to
take advantage of this tweak will have to start a new game...(sorry!)

To upgrade the Allies, copy the files into the correct places, and run!
(Events in the events folder, other files in the EW scenario directory)

Soon, I'll follow up with updates the other big guys in the scenario, Germany and Russia!

Only Italy Japan and China's events to go then EW is done - Huzzah!

        • Yessss baby!!!

I'm not sure if I followed the right procedure, but I saved my game, then started a new game as the allies with the new files, and uploaded the saved file. Hope that will work. Can't wait to kick rush my way from Riga to Vladiwostok.

          • Unless you used DELEVENT on the old save before uploading it and opening it, you might be playing with the old version of EVENTS.

            • Do you use DELEVENT on a saved game by just running the delevent.exe file, running the new allied batch file and then reopen the saved game?

              • Oops, US Army movement down from 8 to 4, lancaster movement down from 20 to 12

I think I have misread this one; is the UN wonder needed to go to war with Russia (russians attacking me?)

                    Not quite.

                    1. Put pointer on saved game file from which you want to remove events.
                    2. Right or left click, keep the button down, and drag the saved file over the DELEVENT icon.
                    3. Release the button.
                    4. A small black window will appear for a moment.
                    5. The file will no longer have the events section.
                    6. Then, when you load the file, the events from the new EVENTS file in the scen folder will be automatically added to the file.
                    6. If you check the file size before and after DELEVENT, the 'after' file will be smaller.

I don't think so. I was able to send an envoy to Moscow and cancel the alliance. After that, I managed to deliberately pi** off the Russians so that they declared war. However, I was not able to start a war with the Neutrals, Chinese or Independents.

                    • Thanks, you made my day(or rather night)!!

Finally, in december 1944, I was asked by the two remaining neutral cities to wage war against the russians. My full scale attack captured 17 cities in the first 2 turns. On the european front the progress is impressive. On the far eastern front the attacks are going well. But on the middle eastern front I was somewhat hindered by the fact that I had several commandos ready to parachute into Tashkent and Samarkand, only to find out the parachute option doesn't work (while it does say so when finishing the Special Operations tech).

But I'm a happy camper now I finally can fight the damn commies. Thanks for all the hours of gaming pleasure, Curt!

                      • Glad you got it working, PietH! (cheers, AGRICOLA!)

I think the coldwar meltdown is a nice little 'what-if' footnote for the lategame.
And with the UN added to the Allies, it fits nicely with their tactical style too.

The Commandos are basically super-marines...Sorry to get your hopes up, dude!
But I hope the game reaches a victorious conclusion for you - Give them hell!

                        PS
It's my pleasure to make thee scenarios for such great folks as yourselves!
And my thanks for sticking with the playtests so long and being so patient!
                        (salutes!)

                        • ohh, damn the senate for going behind my back and singing a peace treaty I was on my way to defeating the russians in record time. In four months time I have raced from Warsaw to the gates of Magnitogorsk in the west en Ust Kamenogorsk in the east. I have to admit it was a bit of a walkover. The russians had switched their production to (total war production) and had nothing but a huge amount of Red Army troops. They didn't even switch back to military unit production when I attacked. So the long anticipated epic battle turned out to be somewhat disappointing.

                          • Yep - The German AI does this kind of thing in the late game too, if they reach a certain unit level...

It's another whacky aspect of the CIV2 engine...

I suppose when they lose a certain amount, they will swing back to war building...

Yes, an AI civ does resume building units once its units total gets down to somewhere in the 100-200 range.
