Call To Power 2 Cradle 3+ mod in progress: https://apolyton.net/forum/other-games/call-to-power-2/ctp2-creation/9437883-making-cradle-3-fully-compatible-with-the-apolyton-edition
I think this one is ready to roll, so I will be looking to get this
complete along with the final version of Bitterfrost 4, and get
them both out this coming week...
Been playing the Allies and have gotten to October 1942.
I've got a strong foothold in Europe, having liberated most of France and a good portion of Italy (as far as Rome and, I think, Florence) as well as some of Germany (such as Bremen, Hamburg and Cologne.)
The hardest fighting, IMHO, has been where I've made inroads into Germany, constantly I am assulted with Stukas, Panzers, Waffen SS and other units and where I am not assaulted, enemy units are fortified. Those fortified Gestapo guys are a real pain in the neck, as it seems nothing I've tried - assault guns, bombers, advanced Comet and Pershing tanks - seems to destroy them, or at least destroy them in the amounts I need to advance further into the Teutonic heartland. I am researching into Anti-Tank Artillery, with plans on researching more powerful artillery units and better bombers, and I hope to research the armor tech to build Centurions, so hopefully that disadvantage will be rectified soon!
Also, the German AI has managed to capture all of Stalin's "Big Three" cities - Leningrad, Stalingrad AND Moscow! Hitler's also going toward the Caucaus, so I've switched the major Mideast cities (such as Baghdad and Tehran) from Total War production (which they usually do) to advanced tanks (Comets and Pershings). Stalin's days appear to be numbered, so I hope to perhaps attack Hitler through this "back door."
One of my goals in WWII scenarios is to get as far east into Europe as I can so that Stalin doesn't get it, but it looks like he won't get anything at all! (West of the Urals, that is...)
All in all, an excellent, challenging scenario. I wonder what your secret is that managed to make the AI such a tough, aggressive nut to crack...
Thanks, dude!
I'm glad your game is giving a cool challenge...!
The later SP guns should deal with those SS!
The AI in CIV2 is a funny old thing - Sometimes it sits there
and does nothing, then a few tweaks of the RULES stats, and
it goes on the warpath like a demon! I too had many a brutal
mauling from the Russians when I played as Germany or Finland!
My next game might be as Romania, just to see how long I can hold on for!
GhostOfDisco, what level are you playing on? You seem to have done very well!
I started a game as the allies on deity. And Mein Gott, what tough nut to crack this one is. I think I made a strategic error by taking Amsterdam in late '41. The idea was to use that foothold to poor in new troops and build from there. But every turn waves of tanks, SS troops, bombers and stukas kept attacking, depleting the fresh troops brought in from the UK. It was like the bloody siege of Stalingrad, but worse.
I'm in april '44, and I only have taken 5 cities on the mainland so far. But Kiel, Bremen, Hamburg and Berlin are of course good catches. I'm eagerly awaiting my Dday invasion force to sweep through france and link up to my northern German army.
I guess a better strategy is to have a far bigger build up in the UK and only then invade and keep pushing forward.
On the eastern front, the Germans destroyed the russians. By the end of '42 Leningrad, Moscow and Stalingrad were taken and a few months later the most eastern russian city was taken. The germans are now on their way to Tblisi, where I will start my drive towards the oil fields.
Kurt, any sight of the latest patch with the winter '45 and summer '46 files?

You are using the proper Allied files and the right batch choices?
The Overlord event should trigger on turn 37, and relies on
the tech numbered '64' to work...And after checking the files,
it seems the file needed is called 'British Home Front'...
Looks like the Algiers thing is only needed to trigger some
reinforcements for the Allied Italian Campaign...Hmmm!
*I checked the Allied CIV to see if the tech was included...*
DAMN! I am a DUMBKOPF!
Seems I forgot to add Tech-64 to the Allies and
this means the Overlord event will never happen!
Agh! My apologies for this foul up!
I will include the fixed SAV and SCN file for the final update...
In the meantime, I include them here, for anyone wanting to start a new game...
I guess, you may have to take Europe the hard way!
To be honest, the event really only gives the players
a few troops and leaves you with a beach-head...!
My advice is to mass-build mobile guns and blow those
Axis-jerks back to the Rhine! It can be done, I am sure!

By now you should know that when I question something I'm usually right.

I'm trying man, I'm trying. But the amount of armour you have to fight through is stunning. I can produce five, six, seven mobile arty per turn, but you have to mass built armored troops, AA, and aircraft as well. The allied production base is rather small to do it all. And in this scenario you need it all to capture, but keep the cities as well!! A captured city can count on counterattacks by 10 tanks, 5 ss troops, 3 or 4 stukas and some Heinkels. I took Prague with over 10 units, armoured troops adn AA. But they were wiped out by a ferocious attack. You're outnumberd on all fronts.
So I'm clawing my way through Europe, slowly but surely. And in comparison with the Dictator series, this one is a very big challenge!!
