No probs! Just finishing a playtest of Eurasian Wars today, and will send you a zip or two soon!

It's a build and conquer scenario, where you can sit back and not fight...Or get stuck in.

I can tell you that the scen uses Ostfront unit stats, and the battles are real mayhem!

      not fight?

After reflexion, why not... I like the build and conquer kind of scens!

      Or get stuck in.

Any cities lost units through the winter shield drop?
Nope, no units lost. But I'm not sure if I'm all too happy with the change. It's a nice touch, but it slows the game down. Where previously wintertime was used to get up to strenght and reinforce the front with new troops, you're now confronted with both slower movement AND lower production. So winter becomes somewhat of a sitting and waiting game you need to get through before the fun starts again...

But I do really like the new game. Even though my progression is steady, I still have to worry about lethal counterattacks, or very concentrated attacks by the allies in the west. And the partisans are a pest.
Taking Sevastopol was a nightmare. Every turn fresh troops kept attacking and defending. It took me nearly all summer '42 to take it, a big miscalculation that consumed a lot of time and resources. I fear for Stalingrad

My allies are weaker then before. The finns and roumanians don't gain much ground, and more more a nuissance in blocking up roads then an asset.

The new setup is clearly more balanced for a human player. The AI throws in a lot more units then before, so there's more open battleground action, in stead of just attacking defended cities. I had to change my gamestrategy from relentless spearheading towards far away targets, to taking a time out to consolidate and close the front.

The units seem to be better balanced too. The whole of british fighter command decided to attack Brest in one focused attack. In previous versions they would have been slaughtered by one AA, but now they managed to kill it, with heavy losses of course.
And I'm using a wider range of units to get the whole spectrum of skills I need. Panzergrenadiers, SS troops and AA are vital in defending cities against attacks. I'm also building more aircraft for both attacking and defending purposes. Previously I just needed AA and mobile arty to conquer the world.

One last remark: after researching mechanised warfare I can build both panzergrenadiers and armoured troops, which both have the exact same stats. I guess the last one is superfluous?

I´m playing with the Russians on the recommended level. It is summer '42 and the Axis conquered Moscow. It seems that the Waffen SS is a little too strong; the Germans only needed three of them to destroy my complete city defence. Also the Katyushas don´t have any effect on attacking the Waffen SS.

I will continue the game, hopefully stop the Nazi war machinery by Stalingrad. Sewastopol and Leningrad are under heavy siege. My gouvernment was evacuated to Leningrad.

                Cool feedback, chaps!

                @civ2units:
Quite a challenge, eh? I will try my next game as the Sovs,
just to see how hardline the fascists can be...I think this
is the level of brutality I want from the AI - Makes it all
the more satisfying when you finally get to beat them!

Sounds like the new unit/stat balance is having the desired effect!
Glad the enemy AI is putting up a decent fight, and believe me,
the AI keeps up the fight until the last city...It's insane!

Indeed, there are some very strong assault units - !

But almost nothing can survive good attack from storm artillery like
the SU-122 or Nashorn! Even a ludicrously hardcore unit like the King
Tiger or late war T-34 can be crushed by SP artillery units...These are
the war-winning weapons...Backed by tanks and planes to hold ground.

                @PietH:
I'll look at making the terrain shield values back to normal in the next
update...What I might do instead to show Winter harshness is to make the
terrains all have double move cost...Meaning slow progress without RR!

I encountered an error in the event text file while loading the summer of '43 files for the axis.

While no use to play on with the event file error, I took a peak into the other civs using the cheat toggle mode. To my surprise the allied civ had insight into the casualty numbers of all civs, while the german and russian civs only have those of their allies. Can the casualty figures for all civs be visible for all civs??

The casualty numbers for the soviets by april '43 are staggering:
                    >400 infantry troops (infantry, shocktroops, partisans)
                    - 80 motorised troops (including katushyas and artillery)
                    - 88 tanks
                    - 85 planes

                    vs german losses:
                    - 19 infantry
                    - 31 motorised vehicles
                    - 32 tanks
                    - 46 planes

That shows that the differentiated event files are working well.

[edit] Is 255 the maximum casualty amount that is calculated? [/edit]

Other observation about two missing units:
                    -the generals are gone?
-the Sexton/M7 priest is missing!! That was my allied war winner! Plus it was a great looking unit, a lot better then the Wolverine I have to say.

My allied 43 summer events don't load properly... is there an error in them? I knew something was up when Germany signed a peace treaty with the Allies.

I had the same problem while loading the axis files for the same turn.

Maybe it could be also something wrong with my strategy. I thought about to defend my cities and after the first run of fascists attacks to make counterattacks. Unfortunatelly I´ve lost all my major industrial cities without Stalingrad. Moscow is under Nazi rule and Leningrad stands under heavy siege. I don´t think that I have a realistic chance for surviving. What a shame...

But for me it´s a real challenge to play with the Sovs on the recommended level. I think I should start a game with the Germans to see how good the invasion against the communists goes.

Your new WW2 scenario sounds very interesting, especially the build and conquer part. This is the part I like most. Hope to see the scenario soon.
