Masterpieces. The Union/Confederate flags in particular look great.

This I'll have to check out sometime!

Are you working on any mods of other games as well?

If so, I am going to purchase and try them!

You can certainly still buy them from eBay etc, and they are playable with XP. PeG-ww2 is free (hint!). It is a conversion of PG2 to use the more advanced PeG engine. There are dozens of WW2 scenarios and campaigns available for it, plus the Napoleonic and ACW conversions.

O-M, BoCo and McM - I can really recommend PeG-WW2; give it a whirl and let us know what you think.

Yes, although I'll have to truncate most of the side views. Not sure if there is any interest in ToT sprites though (?)

Nope. Still working on ToT if you need anything for the Burma scenario though (hint!)

Nice one Gareth. Just played and won the Salerno scenario. Just starting to plunder the Campaign collection. I LOVE old hex based games.

I realised that I used to have Panzer General and Allied General for the Play Station years ago and really enjoyed them. They were slightly different but basically the same game minus modability and new scenarios.

I could not get the Napoleonic game to work but I will give it another shot. I saw there was a Talavera scenario so I have to give it a go. I also want to see your ACW units in action.

Fortress Europa will have to go on hold for a few days while I immerse myself in some hextastic combat. Civ II is still the king of games though

That's Romuald to you! I revved up PacGen six months ago and enjoyed it a lot. 'Twas fun to sink the Yamato about 5 times during the campaign.

Amazing graphics. Not to mention a neat idea.

                  I wonder...

I've been working on (for a different game) an alternate history what-if where Lee is significantly reinforced prior to what in our timeline was the Gettysburg campaign.

This might be a better game to try the idea on.

I don't suppose I could persaude you to work on (when time permits) some graphics for other specific leaders or units (if I can find a way to distinguish them) for this?

Related: What scale is this? That is, is one "unit" a regiment, a brigade, what?

Go for PG2 if you insist on paying Ciaran . Massive improvement over PG and AG. Another step forward was PeG, which was PG2 with bells, whistles and a modern China vs NATO setting. The PeG-WW2 guys have ported the entire PG2 game over to the new PeG engine, and the entire game is avalable to DL for free (second big hint!)

Is that Romuald the Reindeer or St Romuald the founder of the Camaldolese order (ain't google great?)

Thanks Elensar. The PG2 / PeG engine is definitely better than civ to recreate battles. Scale for PeG-ACW is 1 unit = 1 regiment (battalion). Campaigns are effectively a series of battles which you take a core group of units through; their experience and leader qualities improve with combat. The outcome of a battle leads to one of 3 outcomes: these in turn decide which battle is played next, so alternative timelines can be interwoven with historical timelines (In the current long CSA campaign for example you get to attack Washington DC if you do well enough at Gettysburg).

If you need any gfx now is a good time to ask; unit gfx or icons are contained in a single large file (3000 icons max I think) which I am still adding pics to atm. Once the installer package is finished, this is fixed, although individual players can edit this to add more with Guzmans tools. Let me know what you want and I'll make sure it gets included prior to release of the installer.

Hm. Longstreet and Hancock would be good and if there's a way to show them off as distinct (as I recall, the only thing out of the ordinary in their appearance was Irish green flags), an Irish Brigade unit.

What do I need to download/install/purchase to run this?

I would like to get my mitts on PG2 - Don't mind paying if I have to, I love old games like this!

When I see your great Civilwar units I would like to make an American Civilwar scenario after my Conquest scenario.

Btw, may I ask you for some units for my current conquest scenario?

Cairan. I think Gareth's hints refer to the free download link in post #1. PG2 is but a few clicks away

Gareth, a quick technical question about the campaigns. I have tried to download some but I they do not work. I take it I need to convert the maps using the conversion tool? I will give this a go now. Is there anything else I need to do? At the moment the campaign loads but the map is just black.
