  • Animation Lockout

The animation lockout and other anti-animation features included in the ToT patch for us designers do not get saved with the saved game.

Does anyone have a work around?

I figured it out. Here is how to hex edit the SAV file:

Terrain Animation lockout byte: 0x3D523[*] 00 for no lockout[*] 80 for lock out

Unit Animation lockout byte: 0x3D524[*] 00 for no lockout[*] 01 for lock out

SPR file override byte: 0x3D524[*] 00 for no override[*] 02 for override

Both Unit Animation lockout and SPR file override byte: 0x3D524[*] 03 for both lock outs[*] 00 for no lockouts

So does this mean that if you start a scenario (all animation locked out) and then save it (as a normal save game) and then resume playing later, all the animations come back????

Or do you mean just a save game from a non-scenario start?

The animation lockout works normally if you [*] Start a new game[*] Toggle the animation lockouts (cheat menu)[*] Save the game as a scenario[*] Begin a new game from the scenario[*] Save the new game

Any other route leads to a save game with animations that return every time you load the game.

I have posted this info for people who do not have the luxury of starting their scenario design over from scratch, especially people using the CivConverter.

Humm ... I'm not to good at explaining things, research is my bag. I seem to recall that Gothmog had a good explaination of Hex editing on his [/b]site[/b].
