It's a miracle! I've crammed all the events in one file, including the "run bat" alerts!

On another note, I still can't change the barb city style to what I want. When I moved the human civ's city style to Medieval, the barb city style did the same thing. When I looked under @Leaders in the rules.txt, I couldn't find anything pertaining to the barbs.

One last history question- sestertii was the dominant coin in that era, corrrect? Or should it just be gold coins?

Is the title pic from the alpha you sent me permanent, or can I snitch it? That Vercingetorix pic I found is too small (I think that's why it doesn't work).

I'm sticking with the title for now as I have about 100 other things to do without finding a new one!

      Try one of these:

Here, you can access information on website issues, including the most current status of outages and problems reported by other users.

or try typing, Angus McBride, Caesar, Gaul, Gallic wars, Celts or Vercingetorix into Google image search and see what you can find!

        Right. It's off limits.

The first pic will definitely work. Thanks!

Angus McBride...never thought about that. I've only tried Gauls, Romans, and variations of that before.

You have the human tribe in the Roman slot, ie, the first row in the @Leaders table. Whatever city style you select for this slot will be the Barbarian style. If you want the styles of these two tribes to differ, then you have a choice of either giving the human tribe some techs so that it adopts the Early Industrial (Ind) or Modern city styles (Aut, E2), or hex-editing the SAV file: change the Barbarian tribe number from 0 to something else (see the link in my last post) or change the human tribe number from 0 to 7 or 14.

Thank you for clarifying that Catfish.

Thanks for the hexedit tips. Very useful info.

                OK, sound is done.

                Questions

How do you get Civ2 to recognize a title txt? IE the text that pops up with the title pic.

Is there anything that must be done/put in before a title pic works?

Is there an event debugger program like Merc's Civ2Tech? I'm getting messages about errors in my events txt but I can't find any at all.

In an event, if you want to make a unit that's created barb, do you type "Barbarian" or "Barbarians" or what?

Just in case anybody wants to examine the events txt itself, I've attached it.

*edit* OK, sound is NOT done. Will have to start over again.

Glad you like it. If I can get it to actually work without crashing my game like it usually does, I'll most definitely use it.

I keep forgetting to ask this: is there any way to assign sound to a unit besides in the MGE editor menu?

I always though that the sound of a unit was taken from the right WAV file. So if you have a WAV file, you only need to give it the right name and it will be used...

(Name is the same than the name of the unit that use that slot in normal civ2, Custom1... Custom8 for the 8 custom units, test1...test8 for the extra 8 test units).

Give it the same name as the scenario file. "Game.scn > Game.txt"

Has to be the right palette.

There is... I believe you have to add @DEBUG to beginning of your events file... Somebody else could answer this a bit better I think.

As Yaroslav said, just save your sound over the file name attributed to the unit. There's a sound map on the Scenario League Tips site that can guide unit placement to the right sound. Be careful as the MGE sound map is a very hard thing to work with.

OK, sound is officially DONE. I had to rearrange the unit order, the unit stats, replace the units I had in game, and finally assign the correct sound...what an overhaul.

Two things needed before Caesar' Gallic War is in workable order.

                              1) Events need to be ransacked for bugs. Personally, I can't find any, so it looks like I need a little help. Again, is there any program like Merc's Civ2Tech for events? If anybody wants to just scroll through the events, I've attached them in a previous post.

                              2) I'm crossing my fingers that you will return that hex-edited .sav file soon, Agricola.

Number 1, I think, might be helped if someone gives me a quick rundown on how the @DEBUG command works. I know you add it just below the startevents, and it's supposed ( ) to generate a report txt., but the report doesn't seem to appear...

In your rules.txt file, is it spelled "northern" or "northen" confederation?

The two spellings must match. An event text spells it "northern" but every event spells it "northen."

Are "aedui" and "Remi" plurals? If so, you're ok.

I'm not sure the Turninterval command works. Seems like I heard that it didn't. I can't recall ever seeing it used, and that's a bad sign usually. Anyone else know about this trigger?

Slaves event-generated by a citytaken event trigger should probably have "none" as their home city.

                                try this one
