    1) No, they're strong enough.
    2) Yeah. By the point the West stands a chance of capturing them, they should be relatively easy to take.
    3) Address how you intend Rangers to be used, if "dig in and focus on Rohan's troubles" isn't it.

That's all I can think of.

good point. If you could change their spawning point, where would you put it? Near Erech maybe? I could implement the change without too much trouble.

The spawning point for Rangers? (the one-in-four chance of getting a new Ranger unit)

        Or did I misread?

Here' a list of some errors that I have tripped across.
          red = error
[xxxx] = suggested fix, if any

Lamedon is a region of Gondor on the southern slopes of the White Mountains centered around the town of Calembel. Anbor the Lord of Lamedon was alone among his men fearlessness [?] of Aragon's Army of the Dead. During the War of the Ring a few of their number joined in the defense of Minas Tirith, but the majority of Lamedon's men were involved in a battle with the Haradrim and Cosairs in Southern Gondor itself.

          Cosair [Corsair]City wonder

Cair Andros, an island shaped like a ship located in the middle of the Anduin 30 miles north of Osgiliath has come under assault. If it falls, Northern Gondor lays [lies] . . . . . . . .

          PRINCE IMRAHIL AND AND [AND] . . . . . .

Is the impassable square at [133,101] supposed to be there?
I'm not complaining but, after Gondor took Umbar, Lancers on recce NE of Far Harad saw Haradrim moving SW along the road, either to reinforce Far Harad or to attack Umbar. When they encountered impassable square they turned around and headed back NE.

Should I change the mountain terrain under the goblin cities (or any Mordor cities for that matter) to hills to make it easier to capture?
Yes, please. Even with mediocre defenders, the mountain cities are very bad news. I did grab some of them from Saruman's lads but it was very difficult, even for the strongest heroes.

I have yet to figure out what rangers are good for. They cannot fight particularly well and they are not fast enough to keep up with cavalry. I've relegated them to garrison duty in what used to be Saruman territory. The only thing good about them is that they are free and homed to NONE. I would never build one.

I have also not found any employment for the hobbits. My attempt to use them for recce was an abject failure. Despite their supposed invisibility, AI Rhun Warriors made a beeline for them, with predictably unfortunate results.

I'm on Day 84 [Turn 72] and things are getting interesting around Minas Tirith. Mordor has thrown a fourth bridge across the Anduin and Gondor just got the Eagle tech. Gandalf is stoutly defending Amon Lhaw against a mob of monsters, one Ent and a couple of heroes are in Cair Andros, and the second Ent is about to take up his post in Minas Tirith. Wish me luck.

"...in his lack of fear of..." or perhaps "...for his lack of fear of..."

Rangers do fight better than regular infantry, but not by enough to make a significance difference (6/6 vs. 5/5 or 4/6 for archers)

One tweak I'd suggest making. I'm not sure how to apply this, practically, but...make it harder for Saruman to get at eastern Rohan before Helm's Deep falls. if possible. Being able to (barely) hold Helm's Deep and Edoras is threat enough, though a few raiders here and there are good.

I like this scenario, I really do, but its a tiny bit too hard. Endlessly spawning attackers and just-barely-strong enough defenders make holding anywhere frustrating.

Day 43 as of this post (with several reloads, restarts, and so on)

The Rangers do have some abilities, the most important being iZOC. This is pretty useful in the attack on the Black Gate. They can help the Rohan Lancers and Heroes move past enemy concentrations without engaging them. They are reasonably fast with the Alpine ability, I don't want to make them as fast as the cavalry or that would make the cavalry redundant.

The other use for Rangers is in defending. A Ranger fortified on a mountain or in a fort is quite hard to kill. As Elenssar put it, they are better than regular soldiers, but they are human after all. With the switching of their spawning location to the black rock, it should make them somewhat more useful.

As for the hobbits, they aren't even human so yeah they meant to be pretty useless except for completing their quests. The build queue at Hobbiton is only in case your hobbit gets killed on the main map.

I've fixed all the typos and the anomalous railroad tile in Harad but I can't find the AND AND typo. Is it when you discover Prince Imrahil? I probably edited it in an earlier sweep.

I could make half the spawning Uruks homed to Gundabad. This will reduce their peak numbers but wouldn't be too canon.

Yes that spawning point. What if I changd it to (73,65)

Technically, no. But attempting to literally model canon seems a little silly to me, when it leads to problems with how things work in play.

Lets try it. Its pretty good as is, but I'd like to not have to worry about Rohan burning down around my ears while Helm's Deep, which should be Saruman's main focus (until it fails), holds, somewhat.

Regarding ranger spawning...honestly I'm not sure why rangers should spawn as a some-chance-of-this event.
Your reasoning for such an event?

Ithilen's guys just don't have anywhere to effectively hit and run in Ithilen, that's the problem.

Typoes: Chieftain (not Chieftan) Aragorn, and Eorlingas, not Eorloigas

I'd like to see this tried with heroes getting 2 firepower, but that might make them -too- good.
