BTW Eivind, this is a very good scenario. I have spent many hours formulating a plan using a screenshot of the zoomed out map and paint. May be a bit too in depth (my plan, not the game!) but it has been fun and has made my working day go a lot quicker.

WAR IN KOREA

North Korean Army units have broken the long standing cease fire on the 38th parallel. The US army reports two of its units destroyed.
The US has no choice but to react to this unprovoked aggression with military strikes. The US has the full backing of the South Korean government in immediately sending troops to protect Seoul and drive back the invaders.
As the US was attacked by the North Koreans they have a valid casus belli and the usual 3 turn rule for proxy wars does not apply.
The US government and NATO do not wish for this war to escalate beyond the Korean peninsula they would like to enter into a dialogue with the governments of the Peoples Republic of China and the USSR to try and resolve this crisis.

NICARAGUA
The US government can no longer tolerate the activity of insurgents in Nicaragua. Their presence so close to the vital Panama canal is a direct threat to US and world trade. Therefore the US will be sending troops to this country (applying the usual rules of Proxy war) to reinstate the legitimate government.
