Should I change the other two specialists or keep them as they are?

Plus, should I mirror gentlemen to face ladies? But this is not very chinese....

Oh, please give me a feedback about his idea...

As a matter of fact, since the Xia conquest by the Shang, the nine chauldrons, symbol of the regal dominance over the nine mithycal provinces of ancient China, were considered as a regal attribute.

King Wu of the Zhou removed them from the Shang capital and transferred them to Hao, his capital hometown.

Made of bronze, they were used in royal sacrifices to Heaven and Earth to secure prosperity for the whole realm, feeding the gods and the ancestral spirits with the steam coming from cooked foods, including five kind of meat, selected cereals, pure sorghum and rice alcohol ....

But since Hao was destroyed by the Chuanrong ordes, the nine chauldrons went lost.

Developing this remaking of my Warring States scenario series i've come up with this crazy idea.

What if they went not lost? What if every one of the eastern states - Qi, Chu, Zhao, Hann, Wei, Yan, Yueh, Lu and Song ( these three under barbarian flag DN ) - managed to collect a chauldron each?

Of course, nothing goes to Qin! They'll have to get them by force.

Conquest the nine chauldrons to celebrate the imperial rites anew, bring your family and state to supreme power, and become the new China's emperor!

I've got plenty of unused wonder slots to create them....

Imagine consequences for PBEM games... Alliances, counteralliances, traitors and loyal allies, and this with an unrivaled destabilizing factor, a side with nothing to loose!

Now this sounds different. I think it has potential. I kind of like the Ancient Chinese period since watching 'Hero' a few years ago. I think maybe a bit of wuxa melodrama to the civ chat script with the AI would really add something. Also, are you planning this to be MP or SP?

nice graphics, Turno... so u 're coming back to old-love of yours, Ancient China...
"Dilexi iustitiam, odivi iniquitatem, propterea morior in exilio" [PAPA GREGORIUS VII +1085] - ("He amado la justicia, he odiado la iniquidad, por eso muero en exilio") - ("I loved justice, I hated unfairness, that's why I die in exile") - (J'ai aimé la justice, j'ai détesté l'iniquité, c'est pourquoi je meurs en exil") - ("Ich liebte Gerechtigkeit und hasste Ungerechtigkeit, deshalb sterbe ich im Exil")

I prefer the pink backgrounds, or any background with a uniform colour
                .

First off, it's great to see a new(-ish) scenario about China; they are far too few and far between. I don't think I played your original; was it on your site? As an aside, check out Tanelorn's unit gfx; he made some Q'in and later Tang soldiers IIRC.

Aside #2: Did you see Winterfritz's 'All under Heaven' scenari a year or so back? It's a nice one, and well worth checking out.

Can you explain the concept of conquering the nine Chauldrons a bit more? They will be wonders in a number of different cities I presume, each owned by the Q'in rivals (?).

As for which graphic to go with, I'd choose a solid background as opposed to the patterned one or transparent colour.

fairline, about the nine chauldrons... as i've explained before, they were used for the supreme ritual to please both Heaven and Earth. Every social grade could use only a certain number of bronzes - nine for the Zhou wang, eight for the highest rank fiefs families, and so on till to one for the lowest aristocracy rank. Of course the number of foods and alcoholics decreased too, from the Five animals for the high rank aristocarcy to the most humble one for the low rank, the ... aherm... dog... . I though about make them as wonder because those can get expiration and therefore cannot get any other effect on the game anymore. Once you'll have them into your hands, you'll dispossess the Zhou family of their royal title - but, as a matter of fact, the Zhou are not to be on the map.... I'll have to sacrifice Luoyi.... - and the game is over because you are now the feudal emperor ( MP version ), or you can continue till you'll annihilate all of your enemies, as Qin did in the real world ( solo version ).

I've already made schetches for those units, but if can provvide me a link, i'll be grateful... I have purchased all of the Osprey books about chinese armies from ancient times till Qing dinasty as a matter of fact, so i'm pretty curious to see Talenhorn results.

Where to find this Winterfritz "Tianxia" scenario?

Von Bert and Kobayashi, thanks for your tip. I was thinking about merging the two concepts just few hours ago.

Yep, Gagliaudo, but you can't immagine how much love this China was/is for me. I think i'm on this point in the same boat with Stefan Hartel...

Patine. So you watched it too, huh? But i prefer "The emperor and the assassin" to "Hero". It was more realistic, expecially the Handan siege scenes, when the lady of Zhao comes to see the burned Handan and discovers what Qin Ying Zheng did to Zhao's children... Oh, ps, he did it for real... and that was the minus he did... because he did even worse for real...

I've almost done with the city structures icons too - i miss only a few, as a matter of fact. Some right now don't satisfy me totally, so i think i'll change them.

Nice units, but colors are wrong. Qin infantry was all black, colour associated to water and the west, symbol of the Ying Qin ruling clan. And because Qin "kanji" comes from combinating an elephant ( Top ) grinding cereals in a mortar ( bottom ), you can figure what kind of important thing water was for Qin's agricultural people.

The Qin royal guard was blue - elite forces - or red and green - ordinary guard infantry. Zhao high guard was also black, and Hann oone were named the "Iron faces" because of their masks. Those were also skilled archers. Chu High Guard troops were also tough... The royal crossbowmen.

                              So far, there were no:

                              Monted crossbowmen
                              Heavy cavalry
Siege weapons ( sic ) except of the ladder. So Howitzer flag on is enough.

The Regular Wonders. Pretty few as you'll see...

Qi's commerce ( of course to Qi ) - Colossus - builded - expires in the game

Settled barbarians ( to Qin ) - Great Wall - Builded - never expires

Copper mines ( to Chu ) -King's Richard Crusade - never expires

Mengzi masterworks ( to Teng, a small state in the Si valley, this one barbarian) - Copernicus - builded - never expires

Shang Yang reforms ( to Qin ) - Statue of Liberty - to be builded - never expires

Right now i haven't decided about the Tour Eiffel replacement.
