  • FavouredFlight and LOTR Secnarios: any idea of what happened

I remember way back when on CivFanatics he posted some really good LOTR scenarios: Moria and then ROTK IIRC. I think he was working on a sequel or new projects? Any ideas. Now that I think about it, this could have been almost 4 years ago We grow old fast, wow...

I can remember being wowed by those scenario's and thinking they were just the first in a long line of great games. Maybe the real world just caught up with the fellow.

And I remember an American guy who was very active on the Civ2 forums in those days: I think his name was "the ANZAC"??

      Welcome back, mate!

On-topic: yes, his scen were really good, but I never saw any news from him since then. He had a site where he posted his scens (http://www.favfly.fsworld.co.uk/index.htm), but the link doesn't work any longer!

He did made the prequel Fellowsip of the Ring. Then he said he was making another Tolkien scen (wouldn't say which) and then he just dissappeared one day. He mentioned getting a new job at Rockstar Games, I guess that has something to do with it.

Haha, thanks! I remember Case thought I was an Aussie, then the "The" messed up many an Apolytoner as to how to address me

Yeah life has sort of taken over Civ2 since way back when, but I still like coming back and following forum activity. I thought Captain Nemo and Alex the Magnificent were the peak in Civ2 unit design Hehe evidently not.

But Cyrion, good to see you again. AoW PBEM as the Ottomans, no?

Anyway, back to FavFlight: yeah now that you mention it, the next project was under wraps.

Arthedain: he made a prequel to the Fellowship of the ring? Is it available? My interest has been piqued. All I have is FOTR, Moria, and ROTK. Maybe he was too busy helping Rockstar Games develop The Warriors

Ah, Favouredflight...He was a truly excellent creator!
I made contact with him when I first started making the Bitterfrost scenarios,
and he gave me the blessing to use his incredible GFX, he mentioned then that
he was very busy with work and non-CIV2 art projects, so I knew he had moved on.

But he did leave a staggering series of projects for posterity!

No, FotR is the prequel, since you only mentioned the other two, and his FotR scenario comes before both of those according to the Lord of the Rings chronology.

Merc is right. And as stated before he did start another secret Tolkien-scen, thatprobably was going to take place before the LotR. But no use in speculating about that now since he's gone.

His former site; www.favfly.fsworld.co.uk is dead nowadays, but worked some months ago.

Ah yes, after I went to look at my folder of scenario ZIPs I saw what you guys were talking about.

Too bad he didn't make any more, but at least those he did make were very very good

If you're interested, here's an interview I did with FF a few years ago. It's on our Scenario League wiki, under "Magazine": http://sleague.apolyton.net/index.ph...-_by_techumseh

It's nice to have you back ANZAC. There seems to be lots of activity on our site right now, with some old hands droping in and lots of new and active scenario makers.

Hey Techumseh! Good to see the old blood still resurfaces. Occasionally we see Jimmywax too from the nether-regions of Montana

Yeah a lot of these projects are interesting: too bad I left my Civ2 disks at home! Well next time I am back up there I'll get them of course!

I still have a 612MB worth of scenario ZIPs and gfx fromt eh showcase threads for Civ2, so at least I am doing my bit to keep this stuff for posterity
