  • I like them very much VB. I have included a screenshot of both to illustrate my comments.
    Would it be possible to make the ground more green as they look almost like desert cities. Also I think the smaller village could look a little busier, maybe another hut or something.
    They are good as they actually fit in very well with the other cities which I rather like and want to incorporate!

    • Thank you, ok , im glad you think it could fit !
      So..later home i will try..
      You are right.. the ground look like sand..
      Maybe cause i did took some of the buildings from an old game on Egypt ?
      Ok, a bit more green background (maybe the light green like the rice growing ..) and maybe some "sand" just to mark path between huts ..
      In bigger towns then.. some more buildings..
      while.. i dunno what is "busier"..but i guess you mean to add something more to the smaller village ?

          With the smallest village you could even try and cut and paste the original hut or something to make it look a little more populated.
          Bear in mind there is no rush as I have a lot of work still to do on this game. When I am closer to finishing I am sure I will be desperately seeking graphics!

          If you have any ideas for things like US Fire Bases, Special Forces Bases, Air Bases or Fortifications then feel free as all the graphics are up for renewal if something more suitable comes along.

                Those are converted from Chariots of War right? I admit that I recently dl'd the demo just to rip some of the graphics for the icons.bmp. Your look nicer that mine so far

                    yep... EZRhino .. you got a smart eye..
                    did you see in that game how many super cool pics for ancient Egyptian or similar ?
                    and the palette is quite the same.. and size it fit as it is..

                    but i did work on this some time also to try build a vietcong village..with pieces collected from various sources..

                    I have to reinstall Cossacks..cause i think also there some good pieces can be .."found"...

                    and thanks Curts , you are always as kind as good are the cities/images you create !
                    I had already "pillaged" some of yours "buildings" for some experiment ... and i think i ll do again...

                    • My PC crashed again. Luckily I half expected it and had been backing up my files religiously. Have not got round to reconnecting to the net yet so I am posting from work. Should be back again this weekend.

                      • PC crashed ?

                        well , last nights mine was resetting too.. while playing civ.
                        i suppose is caused also by that problem i red here about CIV2 using ALL CPU ..
                        maybe we shell make a post where to explain how to overcome that problem that can "cook" our PC..
                        I red that someone did a pacth for TOT..
                        is there another one also for MGE ?

                          To be honest, I don't know. I know they set nation colors in vanilla Civ 2, FW, and MGE, but I'm not sure if they do so in ToT. Unless all the cities appear on the map to be neon green, it seems not. Maybe a veteran ToT scenario designer could enlighten us on all that.

                          Also, guess I have some shields to make, don't I?

                          • I'm back baby. Not sure how long for though as I think my old PC is on its last legs. Plan to start building a new one which should be fun.

                            No news on the Nam front as this crash has further disrupted progress. Feel like I am in limbo at the moment as I don't trust my PC anymore. I suppose if I keep backing up any work it should be OK. The crashes only seem to happen when I shut it down.

                            Have spent the last few days making a document about the events macro language. Pretty basic template of events triggers and actions. May post it on the SL wiki page as it is quite a handy time saving tool.

                            Have also been modifying Hellas with some altered events and graphics as well as having a bit of a game. Good to remember how much fun it is to play a game, sometimes I spend so much time trying to build one that I forget what makes Civ so fun in the first place.

                            I have never had a problem playing CivII MGE. My PC is not very powerful/new. Civ never seems to strain it though!?!

                            I guessed the sweet spots were redundant for ToT. The last couple of shields would be very much appreciated as they really improve the look of the game and make it easier to pick out units. Cheers!

                                Just treated myself to a new PC today. Have not installed Civ yet as it has taken me hours to install everything. I read somewhere that the greatest game ever still works on Vista though! I am using my old PC for the internet still until I can sort out my Virus protection. The guy in the shop said McAfee has some issues with Vista, I think he said the firewall dose not work. Anyone have any info?

                                Anyway the dark days of the crashes are now a distant memory and I can get on with this project again. Over the last few days I have been playing Hellas as the Corinthians (Trade Empire) and the Spartans (Brute force) and it has reminded me about some of the basics of a good scenario. Building an empire up and exploring are key and I will try and create this feel in Nam. Also the use of terrain to direct the game and make key cities vital is a key lesson I have taken from Mr Ellis' work. I like the way mountains were made impassable through static 'mountain peak' units. Should be easier to do this with ToT's impassable terrain. I also like his use of villages whos capture gives a cash bonus and a settler type unit. I am trying to think of a good way of using this in my scenario.

                                Too late to do much tonight but tommorow seems like a new dawn in the history of this mans Civ!
