Lost Legions, scenario under development

This scenario was, originally, to be my last MPGE development... before I went on to ToT for Pomarj 2 and Discworld 2!

But the limitations of the events file were too big, and so I decided to make it for ToT instead!

As you can guess, I'll probably have a few questions to ask as I'm not familiar (yet ) with the ToT engine!


So, you might ask, what is it all about?

I talked about a "Romans-not-in-China" scen with Fairline a few month ago, and this is it!

This scen will definitely NOT be an epic, and the empire builders will probably not like it, as it will not include:
- any tech research
- any wonders
- any improvements
- any unit building
- any city

BUT some fighting might be included! As well as an heavy events file!

Will this be a tactical 'survival against the odds' type thing?

Very much so!

Think of a "ancient road-movie", where you have to keep on going without losing to many units!

I have already tested most parts of it in the MPGE version, and I now have to put it all together in a ToT version and make it work, before asking some generous souls for the final graphics...

Thanks for the support: now that it's out in the open, I just have to finish it...

But remember: it is romans-NOT-in-China! It actually has nothing to do with the story of roman legionnaries defending the eastern parthian boundary and ending up in China, except that the legions you have are actually survivors from Carrhae (but not heading east!)

Well, right now, you're not exactly of help, as I am playing Roman Civil War instead of working on my scen!

OK, now that I concluded my 2nd game of Civil War (with Crassus conquering the last city in 32), I can start working on it again!

So here is my raw "to-do-list":

- finish the map: not much left to do, so hopefully this week!
- create the ToT scen directory
- transfer all the MPG (provisory) files to ToT: units, terrains, rules...
- transfer the events files from the 4 different MPG ones to the ToT single one!
- modify the events + the tech tree to make full use of the ToT possibilities!
- test the whole thing
- call for playtesters!
- call for help for the final graphics!
- and release it!

If all goes well, I think the playtesters might be needed towards end of February/beginning of March!

Hmmm... that "Romans in China" story does seem interesting. But since the scenario isn't about it, I'm intrigued as to how these legions become "lost," and the whole story behind it.

Question and update

First the question: where do I set the "impassable" flag for terrain?

I just couldn't find it...


And about my "to-do-list":
- finish the map: done

I had the same problem the other day. It is not labelled properly in the rules file but it is there. Go to @TERRAIN and it is the no/yes between the transform to and abreviation (Pln, no, ; Drt)

I wouldn't say "unproperly labelled" but rather "not labelled"!!!
