  • BITTERFROST III - DARKEST AEON...Playtest!

    Greetings, folks!
I hereby invite everyone to try out the beta version of my latest project...Bitterfrost III! Darkest Aeon.

It's for CIV2 'Test of Time', and has been in the works for a few months,
I now think it is primed and ready to be unleashed for public testing.

The object is to pick one of four refugee kingdoms and make it through the years of strife and discovery to build a mighty empire
that rules the Jawbone islands! Naturally there are also forces of darkness that would like to see you crushed and reduced to ash...!

Your playable civs are as follows:
The Skeer - The Stavark - The Daargan - The Khaarov. The other civs are AI only!

The emphasis is on building and domination of the world, and you start of with four cities and your own unique units and wonders
to pursue and build. The tech tree is stratified into civil, military and specialist areas for you to explore. Some wonders will allow
very strong units to join you, get them before your rivals do!

The art of war is the same as ever in CIV2, use artillery, power units or heroes to smash enemies, and then use your rank and
file to fill the new garrisons...Each side will gain a special leader/general unit with the discovery of various techs, use them well
and they can bring you victory! Also beware the dark forces ranged against you, as their units are deadly to the unprepared!

Good luck, and I would say May the Imperion guide you! - But like the old Imperium, he is dead....Oh well!
So in the mood of this new age..."May the spirits of the Skeer keep you under their harsh, but wise tutelage!"

Feel free to give it a shot!
Build cities, grab techs, and defend your realm with vigour!
Enjoy, and report what you think, or any vile bugs that arise!

The usual CIV2/ToT installing instructions apply!
A dummy Resource.spr included in the main zip.

BFIII-Darkest Aeon is uploaded on SL Wiki server, the links are as follows!

Credits will follow in the official readme, but I would like to thank Fairline for the graphics
inspiration, Catfish for his hex rescue, and all the Poly crew for keeping CIV2 going!

For trade, which is very important - Each realm has a special unit:

Khaarovians have the cunning Bursar. (frieight)
Stavarkans build the sexy Matriarch. (caravan)
Daargans send the sly Treasurer. (caravan)
Skeer employ a ruthless Trader Monk. (caravan)

Trade units can be sent to far off cities, and this will
gain you gold and tech boosts which can mean getting
lore advances before your foes...It can decide your fate!

Also, in order to suceed, it is highly recommended that
your use trade units to rush wonders, as the race for
wonders can get rough, let me tell you!

Also use your espionage units where needed!

Khaarovians have the wise Emissary (diplomat)
Stavarkans have the noble Priestess (spy)
Daargans have the secretive Magus (diplomat)
Skeer use the feared Persuader (diplomat)

Spies are what you will expect, and can be useful.
Make sure your have some handy in isolated cities!

Counter-espionage is as important as espionage!

Sounds cool Curt. Too pity i won't have civ2 available for a few months.

Stuff like this sure help revive a dwindling community.
"Military training has three purposes: 1)To save ourselves from becoming subjects to others, 2)to win for our own city a possition of leadership, exercised for the benefit of others and 3)to exercise the rule of a master over those who deserve to be treated as slaves."-Aristotle, The Politics, Book VII

All those who want to die, follow me!
Last words of Emperor Constantine XII Palaiologos, before charging the Turkish hordes, on the 29th of May 1453AD.

Curt, try out these river mouths and see if you like them. I think they match the rivers a bit more than the default graphics.

As expected, I failed and played!!

So I played a few turns and I must say it looks really nice (haven't played enough to say much more).

But I can already guess that I might spend some time on it this week-end...

                        [whiner mode]

It's difficult for me to know what to do without readme and without a description telling me how I can get those juicy hero-type units.
