Ok, I shall do that. Sorry about this, but this time there will be no mistakes and no inconveniences (hopefully). In my turn I will give everybody Trench Warfare via the cheat menu. No double production. Sorry about this, I deserve a spanking.

Although this is a US vs CSA thing, I only say that you should do what you personally feel like. You are enemies, do not mind if they want to stay back or attack: do your own thing.

This turn should be perfect. Militarily I did all the same things (no benefit of hindsight)! Everybody has the Trench Warfare tech!

academia: before I make my move I had some questions:

                    - is government switching allowed? I mean if I discover Parl. Democracy (Republic) can I switch from the Despotism I currently have?

                    - poison gas - can it move out of a city? I mean, if it's destroyed after attacking, is it destroyed if it just moves out of a city?

                    - "stackable" must mean that there are fortresses on every tile. Does "stackable" double the defense of units stayin on the tile? If yes, does "Negate city walls" parameter ignores fortess bonus, too?

                      1. Academia is not the designer of this scenario It is Jim Panse (I assumed you thought this, because you are directly asking him).

Government Switching is not allowed I think.. You cant discover any other government form. I will check this out and find confirmation Remeber, Russia was EXTREMELY backward in 1914 and changing the whole autocractic system in only a few years during a war would be slightly unrealistic. But I'll check it!

Poison gas has the missile flag, meaning you can move it out of a city. But If I remember correctly, poison gas has a very small movement. It is quite useful at times when you need to keep units to defend. Test out units on single player to see how they work

Stackable means that there is a fortification in that spot (meaning pretty much everything in the whole scenario except razed city spots). This does mean there is the fortification bonus, however, Jim Panse (the creator of this scen) has took that to account and tweaked the unit stats to not really show any differences; stackable does not give you a bonus in practice: unit attack, HP and firepower been taken care of.

I hope those answered your questions! Feel free to ask more! I strongly recommend you play Russia on single player and use the cheat menu to try out how different units work! Highly recommendable!!!

Alright, found some confirmation on some things. These are from Jim Panse's readme:

The map is only partly stackable. The terrain squares picturing mountain, jungle, arid and frozen squares are not stackable. All other terrain squares are stackable
This one is very good to know:

Terrain knowledge might prove more than vital to you war effort. The different terrain types have all different effects on the defence and attack power of your units. I aimed to recreate a more than bloody stalemate, so watch where you position your troops!
Couldnt find anything about government switching, but according to logic it is disallowed. Sorry

Don't know, too. Btw I remember from my history course (which may have lied of course) that in 1914 Russia was 5th in the world in terms of GDP (total value of produced goods and services), with US, Britain, France, and Germany in front and Turkey on the 6th place and other nations far behind. Also, the were lots of parties aiming at democratic reforms, among them bolsheviks, which, however, never intended to make democracy. That's why I though it's natural for a revolution to happen right in the middle of world war 1 with parliamentary democracy coming to power (in history, Kerenskiy's government was a kind of that).

Ok, if switching goverments is forbidden, let it be so. I just didn't want to research a useless Parl.Dem. tech for 18 turns before making sure I have the right to switch government.

                            Geez,
with this Despotism the tiles produce one less resourse!

another question: is building new cities allowed or only on the place of razed ones?

Yup, I just checked. The Parliamentary Democracy tech doesnt give Democracy, I think (which is communism in civ2 terms). Just quickly about the 1914 thing, Kerenskiy's government was a greedy middle class government, which in marxist terms is one of the stages of a communist revolution as we all now know And yes, Russia had a very high GDP due to the massive amounts of farming. I bet the GDP per capita was one of the worst!

I think in 1917 events start coming which create rebel bolshevik units which will bother your war quite a lot.
