It seems you have a good eye for detail! This was meant to be a test of the editor (and me) rather than an exact copy, though I do agree it would be nice to have it exact.

One of the reasons I wanted to make this scenario in Freeciv is to compare the AI to Civ2. In a Civ2 game, the AI makes little use of the vast expanses of unsettled land in the game. It will be interesting to see whether the Freeciv AI does the same.

I changed the "a###" block to "f" so I could see the map in order to place the cities. Once the editor allows me to switch between players and edit visibility I'll go back and change it to more like the original, as it's hard work editing vision in the save file.

If anyone fancies a hand at editing, may I recommend placing AWACS as an efficient way to reveal the map. (Just disband these units when done).

I wrote an event for the jihad scenario to count and show the number of objective cities every player has. But the freeciv event system still lacks the possibility to let somebody win based on that calculation.
See the thread in the freeciv forum for details:

demipomme, did you add all the cities, units and technologies manually, or did you use a program to convert it from the civ2 scenario ?

What can i say, excellent progress Matz.

Can i use your Lua city-victory script as an example of the Freeciv event language at the Apolyton conference?
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.
