Or send over your stuff to JohnT, and have it put on the ApolyCon DVD... Of course, the trip to the ApolyCon would be more expensive than a DVD-writer.

I second Curt's DVD burning backup solution. The home PC's DVD burner has finally provided the average computer user with the ability to back up great amounts of work without rellying on using dozens of .7 gig writable CD's.

          PC status update.

It appears that this has been a joint hard/software problem that I might be able to solve within the next 48 hours. Hopefully.

I was able to back up all data, so nothing must be lost

@ Pericles: You are dead right about that, I will now get to reinstall Windows XP again ...

Ok, that's it, my PC is finally broken - leaving me without an OS under which my copy of Civ2 will work.

Maybe I can find some time to say hello every once in a while, but don't count on that.

                Bad news!

                x 1000

At least you got items backed up - Which reminds me,
I had best do the same backups on my own system...

I hope you can get back up and running with some
kind of OS soon...Won't be the same around here!!!

@ Dave: I am using a Mac for about 8, 9 months as a workhorse for my class work - and that's it. I don't even possess games for my laptop.

@ Curt: I don't know, at the moment RL is quite *****y about my conduct of spare time activities ...

Are Windows emulators for Macs (Virtual PC?) any good?

My PC died on me this Easter Sunday...
The motor rotating the festive lamb short-circuited the system and roasted my computer - it kept rebooting till permanent damage was done to the disk.

Its God's way of telling me to keep clear of the life-sucking contraption.

I got a new P4 shortly afterwards, I have a job to do, bills to pay and that unstoppable Civ addiction, after all. I'll try being a good guy instead, for a change.

                        Hullo fellers.

It has been a while, but I thought I could drop you some line. Or two.

What is going on here? Anyone up to give me some details?

                        Cheerio.

Thank you for these kind words, Tech

Well ... I managed to rebuild my ***** PC a couple of days ago, I am still installing update after update, this & that.

I have not thought about reinstalling Civ2, maybe I will do so next week, ToT only, presumeably. I found some of my files too, btw.

                            We shall see ...
