  • The Units of David Morovan

These units are so beautifull! They are among the best examples of multi-unit units I've ever seen! How I wish to aquire more of this guys work - where can I find it? Does he have a website?

And if David Morovan is reading this; do you by chance have a variant of the standard units.gif that I may use, as it would be a pleasure to play standard civ2 with a set.

Can anyone direct me to some multi-units? I want to create a standard unit.gif set to play regular civ2 with.

I fancy a new look to my games

Hmm. They look either borrowed from, borrowed from and heavily modified, or inspired by Age of Empires II. Anyone else care to comment? :P

I think borrowed from and modified, as almost every other unit in this forum. He's probably just new and not aware of our policy of crediting the original author. But I think they are pretty nonetheless!

If you look closely you can see that he used a few BeBro and other civ originals (the bloke in front of the caravan started life as a diplo in Harlans Mongol scenario, and elements of the ships are modded from BeBro) and even a fairline horse (the European noble ) I'm pretty certain that there are no elements taken from AoE II.

The key is that they are so heavily modified and size-reduced, and a lot seem to be drawn from scratch, that I think attributing original artists in this instance would be silly. They are extremely well excecuted; the only problem (a minor one) is that they need to have the civ2 palette loaded into them. Nice work other than that

              Too old, rather:

                I stand corrected.

But then my excuse for him not giving proper credits are annulled.

I would say the chap has put a truckload of work into
making the units look good in multi-groups, despite the
obvious sources where he acquired the start-units...

The units are very good, and owe much of their
looks to BeBro, as any civver could tell at a glance.

Would love to see them in a crusade scenario!

I still think that those that have started life as other's work are so heavily modified that attributing 'original' artists in this case is silly. As Curt says, a lot of work has gone into these - much more than the run-of-the-mill mods usually seen, and I would say that quite a lot have been drawn from scratch.

That trebuchet for instance remains untouched, exept for the adding of a few cut and paste mini troops on the side.

But don't misunderstand me, I like these units. I just think it's apropriate to show the original author's sig. But if you don't I guess that makes more presedence than whatever I mean.

Making multi units is the simplest thing in the world. Shrink the original to 80%, make some minor fixes, then cut and paste into position. This took less than 10 minutes, whereas I guess the original units took several hours.

                            Edit: removed attachment

More. 3 generations of wehrmacht soldiers

Shrinking the tank wasn't that easy though. It needed a lot of fixes after beeing shrunk to 80%.
