Civ IV players will understand what I'm talking about - the rest of you just shake your heads and mutter about new fangled inventions.

Has Civ4 dropped below C$50 yet?

Until then... I'll be here. And I'll probably be back afterwards.

It certainly has if someone buys it for you.

I think the standard retail price in the UK is just under £40. I'm not sure what that is in C$s - I have difficulty enough adjusting to the disapearance of the shilling.

        Ack! That's almost $80 here.

@atomant - I had a Succession game planned for a while ago with one rule - no building boats. Naturally, it was set on an archipeligo map. Have you had any luck bribing boats (that was the one trick I figured would be necessary to win the game)?

The issue is not necessarily the bribing of boats, but the tech tree. Whilst eveyone plans there own tech advances to get from point A to Point b, I had never experienced how much effect the lack of nautical technologies has on the overall game.

                  This was an interesting read.

I'm playing Civ2 MP on Fridays these days. IV looks attractive, but when you add in the cost of a new video card, it's a pretty expensive game.

                      Good, thanks.

I have the machine to run IV just fine... I'm waiting to run out of other things to do before buying it. And for the price to drop.

These days, seems like that only happens when the next version comes out - Civ V?

I'm about ready to buy a new computer (have thought about for a year+ or so.)

Still have yet to open my copy of SMAC -- maybe soon...

                          So I'll pick up Civ4...someday...

Oh, by the way, it is your turn in the green weenie game
