Just downloaded. Looks VERY impressive. Only one initial thought...
This is just my personal opinion, but I'd reconsider your making the SAM unit a generic defense unit available for everyone. It's the most powerful defense unit available to the Minor Powers (ie: anyone but the Commies and NATO), which tends to mean they'll build nothing but them for the defensive role. If I were you, I'd make it obsolete with the "Not Superpowers" tech, to force the AI controlling the Minor powers to build it's civ specific defense units, such as Non-Aligned Inf, etc (The bigger nations, China, NATOs and WARPAC each have more powerful defense units available, so it shouldn't be a problem for them). By all means, give the minors a few SAMs at the start to represent the more powerful minor nations, but knowing the Civ AI, if it can build them, they'll favour them massively, which spoils the feel of an otherwise hugely immersive scenario. *Takes hat off*
EDIT: Oh yeah, one other thing. You've got the paratrooper bug. The one where when you can build the unit in the Paratrooper slot (in this case, I think it's the M1 Tank and the Improved MBT tech), you get a message saying "The New Paratrooper Unit can use the Paradrop command", etc. I'd suggest either swapping the Paratrooper and M1 in the Units.gif file, or rewriting the pop-up (IIRC, it's in Game.txt or one of those files)Last edited by Tigey; December 19, 2005, 08:19.

Very kind of you to say this, Tigey! Cheers!
And consider the SAM thing to be done, as I believe you do have a point here. And regarding the para, I'll rewrite it, as I've already placed some para's in game.
I havn't gotten to the games.txt yet, as you can see from the zip it not beeing there. As a result of this you guys can't see that the reccomended playing is from King. I've only balanced the disorder startup from this setting, but with the alpha, I'll balance it for Deity as well.

My impressions:
Overall, there's a great deal of general care that's been put into this scenario. I especially like the graphics of the ship units - I don't think I've ever seen them before.
Playing an offensive game without nukes would be pretty tough, considering the terrain under most European cities. I therefore resorted to nuking my potential conquests rather than bleed men for them.
I'm not too sure about the unit stats. Is there a reason you've left HP/FP unadjusted and chosen to only represent differences via attack/defence values? I just don't think it gives the units enough variation.
The tech tree is well thought out.
That's about all I can suggest at the moment. As I've said in other threads, I simply don't have the time to play epic giga map Civ 2 scenarios anymore, so I doubt I'll be able to finish a game of it, but if anything else occurs to me, I'll let you know.STDs are like pokemon... you gotta catch them ALL!!!

@Our_man:
Mostly the stats are a result of lazyness, as they're only mods of my Blitzkrieg stats (which again are based on Kobayashi's ZWK stats), but they are also work very well. There's been dozens of Blitzkrieg PBEMs, and they have proven very functional as to the role the various units are given. I think these stats are quite realistic, as units which are weaker than others, still have a chance of winning.
You should know that hills only have 50% def bonus in this game, so it won't be that different. But if you really want to war, you should expect to lose some units, unless you're going nuclear of courseAlso here several Blitzkrieg PBEMs have shown it's perfectly feasible to capture many o cities with conventional forces.
Btw, kudos to Curt on the ships
@SetuSinger:
Thank you for that observation!

Well, I've had a look at your map and layout, and have a piece of advice regarding cities: replace Calgary with Edmonton in Western Canada. This is not shameless advertising for my home city. Edmonton in '75 (and still today) had two neaby ground bases (including a garrison) and two nearby airbases, whereas Clagary had only a smaller garrison, now closed down. As well, one of the airbases near Edmonton is Cold Lake, the furthest north and key 'trigger' base of the NORAD seven-base air defense grid, and was key in case of Soviet air strike from the north. Just a suggestion.

Written from scenic New Jersey!
Yeah, that Calgary is simply a blight on the map!

I love shameless advertising of home cities.
This senario looks mighty fine Eivind. Unfortuneatly I haven't been able to play it so much yet. I guess it works best in PBEMs though."Peace cannot be kept by force.

I started to do a fictional ww2 scenario once, the germans invading Skåne (Scania) where my home town (Helsingorg) were a big part of the map. I think it' kinda accurate too since Helsingborgs port is Swedens second largest or something like that. It's very important for Sweden. Anyways, sorry for the OT, but I agree with smiley."Peace cannot be kept by force.
