My first reaction to the screenshots is that there's something wrong with plains terrain. After downloading the scenario, I notice that a number of what should be 24-bit terrain graphics are using only the colours from Civ2's 8-bit palette. In addition, the conversion has a number of outstanding technical issues which IMO should be resolved before the scenario is made available for public download.

BTW, why do so many people around here post zoomed-in screenshots of Civ2? The game engine uses no anti-aliasing and the result looks horribly pixelated.

      I've also wondered that.

We can always count on you for a sour note, Catfish. I used the 24 bit terrain downloaded from your site for the most part, but perhaps something went sideways. I will repaste the terrain from your file before reposting the scenario.

Well Catfish I can promise that while updating BMB for ToT I will make full use of your 24 bit terrain files. As for the zoomed in screen shots, well I always made screen shots that way because my impression was that it was a general forum rule, an unspoken rule at that.

As we're on the topic.... the updating of BMB is moving along just fine. I'm about 70% done with the terrain and about 50% done with the units after a day of working on the update.

Well, you'll be grateful then that I rarely post here. I should've known better than to post in one of your threads.

The first scenario is up on my site, hopefully followed by many more. The terrain files have been repasted. I don't know why that happened - but they were clearly changed from the original.

Well Techumseh, I'm making really good progress with the graphical update of BMB. I just completed a new Portuguese Colonial city style and I'm currently looking into making a new African Mudcity style.

I'm curious, are there any other scenario's you might want to add to the list of projects to be updated? Game such as Imperialism by Exile, Nemo's American Civil War, Pablo's Spanish Civil War, I'm sure there are plenty of opinions out there on the potential.

For now however maybe it would be best to stick to updating the above listed scenario's, as that istelf is no easy undertaking .

Sarsstock - We are not short of unit pics but we certainly are short of cities. I was impressed with the Muslim city style you posted some time ago and was wondering if you fancied a go at early Byzantine to be used with the Justinian the Great scenario by Carl Fritz. I was thinking Hagia Sofia as the centrepiece of the largets E. Roman cities. Are you up for it?

Another pic. If you don't fancy it, I'll have a go myself

Sure I'll take a run at that Byzantine style Gareth. I couldn't agree more that there's a shortage of real good cities graphics out there, which stands in contrast to the massive collection of units we keep amassing.

When I'm completed it I'll post it on its relevant thread, that would be the "Non-Units Graphic Thread" correct?

                        Hey guys, I know there are plenty of resources out there already, but a quick question anyway;

I just got TOT. finishing my first midgard scenario. Are the units you guys are making animated? I assume of course that they are not, but man better graphics (like the stuff I have seen here) would solve the basic problem with this civ version, which is that it isn't nice to look at!

Indeed correct. Looking forward to them!

                            Excellent, thanks

I've just finished a new set of units for Justinian. Shall I send it to you with terrain gfx?

No, not animated just static icons which face in two directions. If you're looking to improve the eye-candy of ToT, check out Catfish's site which has replacement stock gfx for just about everything.

Just a little progress update on the update of BMB. I've finished the terrain and cities graphics and am about 95% finished with the units. Once those are done I expect the icons will be finished in short order as well as the people graphics, then I will submit the scenario to Tech for aproval, maybe some playtesting and she will be released .

Excellent. I've got a new set of units for Justinian from Fairline, many brand new - all great. One problem I need to resolve is that the Persians and the 2 Roman civs have all got renaissance style cities in ToT because they all have both Philosphy and Invention. So getting the Persians to use an arab style city insted of a Roman style will require a bit of tinkering. BTW Starstock, the cities we're using for this are Bebro's style, not Curt's.

On Kull's second scenario in the Ancient Empires series, Seeds of Greatness - 3500BC, the graphic upgrade is done. I still need to manually convert the Rules txt. to ToT and adjust the sounds. Boco has agreed to edit the bat. file syntax so that it works with XP as well.
