  • Anyone up for a map creation?

    Hullo lads & lasses,

I was wondering if someone could convert that *.gif file I attached into a Civ2 map *looks conspiciously to Mercator*

Btw, if some portions of the ocean & the antarctic region would have to be left out I would not shed a tear

    Ever heard of MapEdit?

You must shrink it and work with it in a gfx editor first. You can't turn it into a civmap in this giga giga giga size.

      What Eivind said...

To get the proper map dimensions you'd have to shrink the map to half it's width at first... and then do more proportional resizing as you see fit.

It's got some weird terrain though. There's Hills and Mountains all over where it shouldn't be. And the rivers won't be continuous, because they're too thin. Especially when you reduce the map in size you'll lose all the rivers.

In other words, it will still need lots of work.

And no, I'm not gonna do it for you.

It would save you alot of work just using already existing world maps.

I've seen worse. The problem with that map is that you lose a lot of map size by including the Arctic and Antarctica. Nothing happens there anyway so why not exclude it? Also, Europe, where most action is anyways (depends on what type of scenario you're making of course), are very underemphsized here. Although correct world map wise, it would make the playability in Europe difficult. I would also reduce the width of the map a bit.

To be honest, I'd much rather use one of the existing world maps if I were you.
