  • .BAT files in XP Service Pack 2

Just wondering, is there any way to actually access .BAT files in Win XP? I tried accessing them through command prompt and they automatically crash... I also attempted clicking on the link and they still crash.

Without the .BAT files functioning, I'm finding it impossible to play the "Mines of Moria" and can't use the correct graphics for Nemo and Alex's "Redfront"

    Does anyone have a solution?

Put CHOICE.com in the scenario folder with the bat file you want to run.

This needs to be added to the stickied link thread I think

Hmm... well it worked for me. Maybe you're doing something else wrong, Cifer?

fairline- Sorry that I forgot to say thank you.

well i double klick the setup file and there is a window showing up for about a 1/100 second , then it disappears again. i just have to put the choice.com to the folder, right?

EG, Eivinds Blitz42 v3 setup -including a choice.com at the scen folder- does not work, too.

i guess you could try manually renaming the files,

Instead of double-clicking on it, try running it in a Command prompt. That way the thing won't close immediately and you'll have time to see what's happening.

                - Right-click on the batch file, go to properties, copy the Location field
                - Open Command Pompt
                - type in:
                Code:
                CD /D "[paste location field]"
(with the quotes, but without the square brackets)
                - type in the name of the batch file (".bat" not necessary) and press enter

This isn't so much to solve the problem, but more so we can find out what's (not) going on.

it tells me, syntax (?) of filenames, foldernames or file*???* (dont even know what "dateiträger" means) are wrong.

You missed the C at the start. That is, the ":\Dokumente..." should be "C:\Dokumente...".

                    And the
                    Code:
                    cd..
things you started with are unnecessary for the last line to work... Though since you're using them I guess you're already sort of familiar with how the command prompt works?

I just said you should use the
                    Code:
                    CD /D ...
line because it's just one command and it always works. All that line does is go to the scenario directory (from wherever you are). If you want to get there by other means, that's just fine too.

Datenträger must be a (hard)drive (or more literally, data carrier).

                      YATA! I solved the Problem.
As I once had to formate (?) my hard drive (?) ( ), I just took my backup mps CD and put the folder to my desktop.
I always wondered why the desktop icon I had created myself didnt work as well as the setup.bat files.

SO now I had the glorious idea to put the mps folder to the C: programs/ folder and WOW it really works!

                      Thx for help anyways!

                            BUMP!

Took a lot of time to find this one..

                            Edit:
Put the file in the Windows directory, then you won't need to have i in every scenario folder with a bat file.

yeah, that way you don't need to have a gazillion copies of it.

It works with delevent as wel.
