I'm gone for a couple of weeks, out to the west coast for a short vacation. I'll be sailing on the Georgia Straight for a few days, with a couple of buddies from university days. Then back to Vancouver for a while, and then head home over the Rockies via the back roads of British Columbia.

I'll try to connect to 'Poly via my laptop in the meantime, if I can connect. When I get back, I want to wrap up Warlords of China as soom as possible, and get SDC #5 rolling. I trust that the new SL site will be ready by then, as well. Cheers, everybody!

That sounds awful Brian. I think that you should come to Canberra and visit the National Library.

                    Have a good time.

I'll probably finish my India map when you're gone. I'll email it when it's done.

Hi everyone. I've made it as far as Kelowna, BC. I was going to go the southern route, but there's a minor monsoon in southern Alberta producing some flooding, so I diverted farther north. As it is, I've driven for 2 days in driving rain. This doesn't bode well for sailing, that's for sure!

The hotel was out of rooms, except for the "Presidential Suite", which they gave me for a cut rate. I'm sitting here with a fireplace and a Jacuzzi, all by myself. So I thought I'd check in with you guys. At least the room has a fridge full of beer (at 6 bucks Canadian, per). Tomorrow, I'll make Vancouver, and the next morning we sail! And BAIL, if the rain doesn't let up.

I transferred my Warlords of China files to my laptop using one of those data traveller thingies that plug into a UBS port, which my wife gave me for Christmas. Very handy. I was going to work on Warlords on my holiday , but I forgot that I don't have PSP installed on my laptop. I think you can still download PSP as shareware, right?

N35t0r - just after our glib exchange about getting eaten by a Grizzly, a young woman was actually killed by one near Banff, Alberta. So it is a real risk.

Thanks for all the good wishes, I'll keep you all posted. Cheers!

I am not delusional! Now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go dance with the purple wombat who's playing show-tunes in my coffee cup!

Yes, what with that savage bear attack and the flooding in Southern Alberta we've been reminded just how dangerous this country can still be at times. Good to know you made it through Alberta in one piece though.

Well, until you get back, happy sailing!!

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

                              Heh, well, take care then.

And good luck with the weather... Sailing with bad weather can be a real pain.
