The Altera Centauri collection has been brought up to date by Darsnan. It comprises every decent scenario he's been able to find anywhere on the web, going back over 20 years.
25 themes/skins/styles are now available to members. Check the select drop-down at the bottom-left of each page.

The toughest scenario that I have ever played is Colwyn's Red Front v1.5, a major re-work of Nemo's Red Front v1.4 classic. It is so much more difficult than the original that it's scary.
As for the TOT redux, I haven't heard anything from FMK since his January computer crash.

Alright, b/c there seems to be a couple of Red Front's out there... Captain Nemo's being the classic?
I saw an amazing looking Red Front at Techumseh's site, including movie intro instead of title page, but can't play it yet b/c I need ToT.
Have found some seemingly abandoned scenario collections out there. Is the collection here at apolyton the most up-to-date? Related question, where is the best public collection of scenarios? (again, no criteria; best organized, category peak, current, etc)...

Anyway, thanks for the replies!
Sorry dude but your thinking of Tech's "Red October".
The most complete collection can probably be found over at Civfanatics.com.

Flying is man's second biggest experience. lLanding is the first.
I spent a couple of months at apolyton just downloading scenarios and patches while i started to learn how to use the new tools, so I have definitely seen and enjoyed some of these, like LOR trilogy, Star Trek, and Colonization. Trying to get Red Front to work, but the batch file doesn't seem to be getting the unit graphics and such to come out right! Anyway, of course I have to try these scenarios, since I asked for them! again, thanks...
I see a lot of great recommendations and I plan on trying a good few of them from that first list. The "Bestonet" section of Spanish civ site shows several but it doesn't show what the requirement is for running. Should I assume that they all work on vanilla? Or is multi or fantastic the req stated in a readme after downloading perhaps? Thanks.

Sadly, no!
Virtually no scen will work with vanilla civ... For them, you'd need FW, MPG or ToT!
