    Hmmm... well I would have to agree with you Patrick that the US/Mexian War scenario you described would most likely have to be done from scratch again. Is this something you'd be willing to contemplate perhaps after EOTRS?

    What about your Mexican Revolution scenario? Or Simon Bolivar or 1812 projects? Where do they stand in terms of completion?

    I have been wanting to design a series of Napoleonic Infantry units based on the new Curt/Fairline infantry models but have been yet unsucsessfull. I was considering them myself for use in the proposed "All the Kings Men" project but I don't think that will come to pass as development would require an encyclopediactic knowledge of both the American and French Revolution, which I sadly do not posess.

      Oh, I fixed the ME problem a couple of weeks ago. It was just a matter of finding the old discs and reinstalling Civ2 and FW. Thanks for the advice though!

        I recently inspired after playing two brilliant scenario's this past month. Brown Man's Burden and Malta. Brown Man's Burden is a favorite of mine because it takes place in what I consider one of the most adventurous era's in recent history, the "Great African Land Race". Malta is sure to become a classic because it pits cold war rivals against each other but on a small theatre of combat, the kind of theatre that would surely be overlooked on a global map scenario.

        With these two ideas in hand I came up with the following.... The Emerald Wars.

        Imagine it is the late nineteenth century, and if one were to look up a map of the Eastern Mediterranean you will find the peaceful and picturesque island of Cydonia. Cydonia is a crescent shaped island close to Cyprus in overall size a mere 30 km from the coast of region of Palestine.

        Cydonia has a colourfull history indeed, a history of Greek explorers, Roman rulers, Venetian merchants, Mongolian invaders and Crusading conquerors. Yet for the last five centuries the island of Cydonia has sat under the thumb of the Sultan of Constantinople and his Ottoman Empire. At its height the island was the great trading hub of the Eastern Mediterranean, but as the Ottoman Empire grew old and decrepit the island of Cydonia suffered greatly along side. Her once flourishing ports and city markets became all but abandoned at the end of the nineteenth century as the economy of the empire declined.... but salvation was at hand for Cydonia.

        A bountiful emerald deposit has been discovered in the islands western hills, and subsequent mining has brought new life and much needed wealth back to the struggling island. Yet it became all too apparent to the native Cydonians that the vast majority of the wealth was to go the islands ruling elite... the small Turkish minority. Thus the native Cydonians, wanting only the right to what is rightfully theirs have risen in arms against Ottoman rule.

        With tensions rising in Europe this small island may serve as a flashpoint for a much larger conflict, but that will not be your concern in this game. You can choose to play as one of two sides, the Cydonians or the Turks. The Cydonians command more territory and more troops in the beginning, but have little in the way of modern military equipment. The Turks will have more artillery and gunboats in the games beginning, but they're few strongholds risk being overrun if they cannot reclaim enough of the island early on.

        What may tip the balance in either sides favor is of course international support. Turkey can research the support of the Austro-Hungarians and later the Germans, the Cydonians can research the help of the French and then later the British. As few nations will be interested in involving themselves in "The Emerald Wars", both civilization's will be able to research groups of volunteers. Adventure seeking Italians, Russians, Greeks, Arabs, Americans, Australians, Argentines and Canadians can be drawn into this conflict in small numbers.

        Attached below is a set of just a few of the orginal units that might appear in this game. First is the Cydonian rebel unit, below is a Turkish regular and a Turkish loyal militia, a British regular, a Royal marine, a French regular and a Colonial infantry. I hope to learn a great deal about scenario making with this game that I can later apply to my "Jules Verne" project.

          Looks great, Chris! Those units are top of the line, and the idea's sure to be a classic! I'll do some thinking on this and get back to you with some suggestions. Until then, keep up the great work!

            Well for now I would like afew ideas on what unofficial volunteer regiments from the above listed nations might look like. I know Curt has recently made some pretty good civilian militia units but I'd like each unit to look unique to its home nation.

            If there are any ideas what volunteers from Greece, Russia, Italy, America and so on should look like please feel free to let me know.

              Here are some volunteer units that might just appear in "The Emerald Wars" if the forum can accept their attire as being historically apropriate. As I said these units are from nations with strong Cydonian populations and are generally sympathizing with the Cydonian cause, but are unable to directly become involved for varying reasons.

              Clad in white we have the American volunteers, the rough and tough Australian volunteers and the sons of the true north Canadian volunteers.

                I have another question to ask the forum, if Germany and Austria were to come to the aid of Turkey with Britain and France on the side of the Cydonians can anyone think of who the commanding generals of these expeditionary forces might be?

                I suppose Kitchener could be a cannidate for Britain depending on what the actual date I set this scenario for is.

                  I'd say, given the vast cache of emeralds at stake, Germany might actually send Crown Prince Frederick (who commanded the 7th Imperial Army in WWI), or even General Falkenhayn (who developed the "pincer attack" strategy against France, but died 5 years before WWI, and thus never saw it fail in action).

                    Hmmm... the Crown Prince himself eh? That would raise the stakes significantly for Germany. If you and I are thinking of the same crown prince "Friedrich Wilhelm" then he may be a tad too young to be in a position of command of an expedionary force. This war will likely start somewhere between 1895 and 1905, this would mean the Crown Prince may still be a teenager.

                    General Falkenhayn seems to be a more favorable choice. He was in China from 1901 to 1903 building up his reputation, but if there is enough wealth to be made on Cydonia I'm sure he would recalled if necessary to lead the expedionary force.

                      Attatched below are two variants of the Greek volunteer infantry which will be the first foreign troops researchable by the Cydonians. Also I attatched a new version of the Australian volunteer unit along side.

                        Next up in the Emerald War lineup we have the Argentine and the Mexican volunteers. You see, this war can quite possibly become a destination for adventure seekers the world over.

                            Following the Argentines and Mexicans we have the Spanish and Italian volunteers. The way I plan to set up the researchable techs it will be highly unlikely that the Cydonian player will be able to enlist all the possible volunteers of different nations. Instead, maybe two or three nations can be researched for volunteers and perhaps one nation can be researched for all out military intervention. The same will go for the Turks.

                                @Sarsstock: Units are certainly looking good there! BTW, what other techs other than those that grant volunteers will be available, and what will they grant?
