  • Some weird problem just occured ...

After being basically through with the creation process and halfways to releasing it for public playtesting, I noticed this weird problem:

I finished the creation process to a degree where I would be able to save my *.sav file as *.scn file. Would. Every time (and by now I tried several times) I save my creation as scenario via the Cheat Menu I am able to do so - but despite the presence of the Apollo Program wonder AND the revelation of the entire map via the cheat menu every time when I load up the scenario file to start playtesting myself each civs has only its own map revealed.

    Any takers?

Btw, attached is the *.sav file which I am using as buildup file.

Just checked this in MGE, and was a bit freaked out by the fact that the whole in-game map display was leaving crazy graphic footprints all over the place when I moved the cursor around...I fear my version of MGE is either messed up, or your save file is in a different format (perhaps the Euro version) from my own MGE game...

Now we have two problems in the one thread!

Hum ... first of all let me thank you, Master Curt.

I have MGE - but not the Euro version - at least not as far as I know.

Anyway, could it have something to do with the fact that every time I load up this *.sav file the cheat mode is already activated?

Funny thing is, in another scenario I am about to finish in the next couple of days (B&S Redux) I do not experience this here problem ...

It's odd, as the other MGE file I have been trying are OK.

I did get this graphical trouble with one sav file before...

I wonder if the saving with the cheatmode may indeed be a factor?

I am going to check my older mGE files to see if I can replicate the problem...

I have no idea how much this could help.

Anyway, I fear my Civ2 version seems to be corrupted! Alas! Move the precious scenario folders to the lifeboats, I´ll re-install Civ2

Why, oh why, it is not working even though I installed Civ 2 MGE anew?

Got same results as Curt and Jim.

Problem may be that Reveal Whole Map is not checked in Scenario Parameters. Checking it seems to solve problem on my save.

Your idea solved the problem, thank you so much, comrade

That sounds like a problem with transparent terrain.

There are no different formats. Well, there are, but that's patched vs. unpatched MGE, not US vs. Europe or anything like that. That would be a bit silly with a game designed for multiplayer, wouldn't it?

You mean, the savegame you're building your scenario with? How could it not have the cheat mode activated?

Oh, Jorrit, how I love your constructive criticism

Anyway, I deserved that post by you. Definitely.

It looks like this right now, I now need some hex-edit help. Anyone?

Jeez, you are indeed a man of few words! What exactly is the problem that needs the wizardry of hexediting?

I can probably have it done by tonight or tomorrow morning, your time.
