The Archer disapeared and I hesitated where it moved and so where I should move my northern warrior. East or west? There should be another hut east, he may be going there, I should pop it first (destroy, it in the 8 square area) ... but ... there is water in place of hut and the archer is not here.
I knew it was little bit risky for Cheb: the defending warrior may get out to Mountains/Gold, but if the Archer attacks, wins and goes to Cheb then I will be one turn behind to finish Writing+diplo+gold for bribing in time. So I will have to switch to warrior (and lose many shields) or to finish the diplo and hope the wounded archer won't dare to attack a defender on hills. Or ... I will pop a hut soon ... if it yields gold ...
Anyway I was risking a lot.

Here you can see a complete map and so a relative position of both my areas.

Yes, I see them fine. Thanks!

BTW, I'm checking in a little bit sporadically now (and until Sunday) since my wife is here (we live in different countries at the moment); not because I lack interest in the game.

Writing; next going to Map Making (a risky choice; no good defense, but boats will help my transport in planned cities SW from Hradec and to establish an embassy; This is a bit a poker: I suppose Peaster won't assume I would play without Phalanxes)

26 my warrior N of Hradec near Mpondo (first Zulu city detected)

my warrior N of Hradec met a Zulu warrior. (I added Mpondo on the map so that you see where it was; I found it AD 37 only)

This turn I made a near-city-XX analysis to localize Mpondo. The attached image is a map from Civ2 Administrator. The violet points are possible positions in Mpondo in 26AD. Later another near-city-XX analysis located Mpondo on the yellow point.
But in reality Mpondo was on the special (the blue arrow). The mistake was caused by the fact Mpondo was found between my 25 and 26 turn - this confused my analysis.

Peaster outmanoeuvred me. It is clear he wanted to lure me away from Mpondo and went North with his warrior. I saw the empty Mountains and without thinking I stepped there. A bit later I realized most of violet points are NW.
This turn I got Map Making from a hut. I hoped I would control the isthmus between my land and Mpondo (I sent there 4 warriors immediately) and so I continued my risky strategy. I skipped Bronze Working and went for Masonry+Mathematics. The risk is that Mathematics is 2 techs away. But Catapults would be good on the slow terrain in this world. I will have to keep a reasonable amount of gold so that I can rushbuy a catapult if Peaster attacks early.
BTW since Monarchy I keep 30% science (and a small speed up of Writing when I wanted to bribe the Archer). Still Peaster leads in number of cities and shield production (Manuf. goods in the Demographics window. I don't know if it is because I built a lot of explorers in the early stadium or P. has a better land or he plays simply better?)
It is a bit risky but you cannot play for a 100% security if you want to win Civ2. I control Mountains around the Cheb area, cities are on hills here, and Peaster knows about it. So I assume he won't attack here. Also I should fortify my warriors on a good terrain in the isthmus area N from Hradec. If Peaster breaks through here early I have still a good chance to stop him on the Mountain wall N from the W end of Vltava (my river).
In the Cheb area my units are near Intombe. You can see we encoutered our Zulu friends.

You can see I pay for my mistake in moving direction of the warrior near Mpondo in 28AD. I am blocked by a Zulu warrior and I am on forest only. I would like to reach that hill NW from the Zulu warrior, but it looks impossible now.
Do you see the hut at west? Zulu warrior will pop it next turn
