I was just thinking to myself how quiet its been on the Dalek development thread. Glad to see the new units Curt, I have to say I'm surprised by the large variety of Dalek's being offered up.
They are very well made units, but if there is one problem with them it would be that they dont have vast differences between each other, and whereas that is perfectly reasonable i guess that it would make it harder for the player to teel them apart, unless he spends a lot of time playing the scen, which i guess is what he is meant to do
I see, so you'll be highlighting the differences in the Dalek factions eh Curt? Well what I'm most curious of now is what the terrain will look like, and what kind of cities you will be using. I assume with your nack for city graphic making you'll be using an entirley new city style of your own for this project.
It would be a lot of work, but i think that in reality he has a dalek that does most of it for him. Then it tries to touch the computer screen with its probe, while looking at the dalek units.
Curt my friend, are there any more development with "Tyrany of the Daleks" you'd like to share with us today? Any new Dalek models perhaps? Robomen maybe? A TARDIS unit even?
One of the first units I ever tried to make was a hover tank. Every once in a while, I try to make one again. The first two units below are my more recent attempts.
Also, the first unit is unique for two reasons: 1) I attempted to manually give it a camo look; and 2) I tried to give it a shadow that suggested it was hovering above the ground. I'm not too comfortable with making shadows.
The third unit is a mech I'm currently calling the Scoprio. Just like the first two, it's still a Work in Progress, only more so. I'm still working on shading and shadows.
I threw in the last version of one of my most well-received mechs, the Behemoth, as a special bonus.
If I could get some feedback on these units, that would be great. I know they're at least somewhat good, but if you have any suggestions on how to improve them, I'd much appreciate you telling me.
The units look good and take good advantage of the civ2 palette.
I would make the hovertank float more off the ground.

The gray one looks much more high tech than the earthy brown.

True, but I was trying to keep it in sinc color-wise with the first of my hovertanks above. On second look, I'm not quite happy with the (hand-done) paint job on the brown "Whale Song" unit. I was trying to see if I could give a camo-like look, rather than the gray.
I am not delusional! Now if you'll excuse me, i'm gonna go dance with the purple wombat who's playing show-tunes in my coffee cup!
Rules are like Egg's. They're fun when thrown out the window!
Difference is irrelevant when dosage is higher than recommended!
