  • Good to hear you are working on a scenario Nilat. I will hunt down some Finnish units. I know Fairline made a good train recently. Is this project for MGE or ToT?

Also, will you be starting a creation thread? The reason I ask is that I am interested in this period of history and would like to hear what you have in mind! I like the more obscure conflicts, WWII and Imperial Rome are so overdone (says the Guy making Fortress Europe and Aeterna Civitas!!!).

I've looked at quite a few WW2 Finnish units. Their uniforms/weaponry is too modern for the period (hence I am posting on the industrial thread). Multi units would be very cool too (I like them). I'm making it on MGE, as it will be a PBEM scenario. The train in El Aurens is more than suitable for my needs.

I have finished the map (including the terrain), but I have yet to place all the cities and towns. I have a personal rule that I don't post the scenario thread until I've posted the cities (ending of the extremely boring part, which ensures that I won't abandon the project). Besides, I'm going to Croatia tomorrow. I'll post it in January. I have some pretty interesting touches in mind, since the Finnish Civil War differs from conventional wars.

      • Glad this is MGE and Multiplayer, put me down for a faction! I will have a go at making some Finnish multi units suitable for he era when I get a bit of spare time. Funny how different people enjoy different parts of the creation process. For me placing the cities is the best bit, testing is the bore for me!

        • Some Polish soldiers from the 1919-21 Soviet invasion...

I'd like to do some Wielpolska (sp?) soldiers, but I don't know how to put capes on these model soldiers. Anyone know how to?

            • And a GIF of FW/MGE-compatible graphics, if you want to do a scenario of said war in that format.

              • Alright, here I have some of my cut and paste Confederate Marines. Now from what I've read about the CSMC...and there seems to be quite a few conflicting reports out there...they wore a French styled Kepis with a black top, black collars and cuffs, the long Frock coats, and white pants for summer dress, and a dark blue pant for winter dress(this is only the uniform of the non-commissioned member), officers wore a slightly different variation. As per a unit crest, I was unable to find any reference to one, other then a stylized M.

                • Has anyone around some pre-American Civil War Signal Corps/General units?

Preferrably from the UK, US, Mexico & Spain?

                  • Might be able to whip some up ... reference pics, though, would be very much preferred

(Though I've made a Touissant L'Overture unit in the pre-industrial thread ... not my best work, and one I've thought redoing, but still...)

                            • Well, I know I've given thought of someday making a European-scale WWI scenario (though, with Sobieski and 2013 still in the works, I've got work to do right now), and those planes would be great in it!

                              • I once started making a western front scenario, still got the files. I had made trenches using the fortress square that made the infantry look like they were in the trenches. In the end I decided that an accurate recreation was beyond me at that time and I shelved the idea.

I also had a play around trying to make a WWI game using my well used European map but decided the western front was too small. Would love to see someone make a good WWI scenario but I don't think that conflict is well suited to the CivII engine.

Perhaps someone will prove me wrong one day but I think WWII with its fast moving battles is much better suited to Civ!

Attached is a mock up of what I had done. The trenches were basically fortresses and when units occupied them they appeared to be in the trenches. When these trenches were placed on a muddy map with lots of barbed wire, ruined villages and shell holes they looked really cool.
