I've always thought they looked cool, but I wonder how often they caught their excessively long lance-flags in their feathery apendages....

Yep, I was definately planning to make some streltsi to fight the Poles - their uniforms were so similar it's a fairly easy conversion job to make the Muscovites. I ought to add some Cossacks to fight for and against the Poles as well. 17th century greater-Poland scenario anyone?

    • A Poland scenario would be really excellent...!

One of my favourite historical areas is Eastern Europe.

      • Not me... I was just thinking of using ToT units with M.Daumen's "Moscow the 3rd Rome" for old selfish moi.
        (...)
These units reminded me of your very first unit posts on the same subject, roughly, back in autumn 2002.
You know, full circle, deja-vu, uroborus & such.
Wonder what Apolyton SL 2012 will be like.

        • Funny, I pulled up that set of units before I made these new ones. They're labelled 'gb4', so I'd guess they were the 4th set of units I posted here. They look appalling don't they?

Somehow I missed Michael's 'Moscow the 3rd Rome' scenario. I really enjoyed 'the Great Game' so I'll have to have a go at it. It'll be either at CFC or the Spanish site I guess.

If you like this timeframe, you'll also like Henrik's 1655 scenario (Carolus Gustavus Reagis) which I've just converted to ToT. Have you played it?

          • I too have have the GB4 file...
Amazing how your style has evolved...!

I wonder what was your very 1st GB unit set?

I am sure I recall a WW1 German truck being an early offering...

            • Man, we should really get a "share your ToT-conversions" thread. *hint*

I've actually given that a bit of thought recently. Of course, with several Civ 2 scenario projects already in the works, I'd probably wait to make a Poland scenario itself.

And is it just me, or would the Red Front map work well for a Greater Poland scenario? It's got everything from the Russian hinterland to eastern Germany and a bit of Italy, and given that Poland is situated between Germany and Russia...

                • Well, some work of conversion should be inside the borders of my graphi designer abilities, I hope. In my opinion, (unit) graphics are the closing of any scenario work, so I relax.

Speaking of Poland ... Beside my Balance of Power - idea I have drawn a map for a 1650-1750 Eastern Europe scenario. The battle concept would be similiar to TYW, others are taken from BOP.

A strong Sweden after 1648 which has to handle with its small population and many enemies; a rising up Russia, which has to handle its a huge population ; a rising up Prussia, a falling down Poland, which should still be fun to play with its extraordinary army but a corrupt government, a rising up Saxony, which could be a cultural centre (wonder builder/ researcher/ trade improvements), a rich Denmark as a hard antagonist to Sweden, and a maybe (Part-)Austria, military concurrent to Prussia, and cultural to Saxony, under Ottoman pressure...

If you have any trouble give me a shout. I've converted a couple of the musketeers already and they look acceptable.

I don´t know if they fought during the 30 years war but if so is there any hope of some German Landsknechte infantry or Spanish Conquistadores?

                      • @Fairline: I can't remember what I had for breakfast this late. There is one Garl Gustav scen in the Spanish site, I m not sure its the same.
@civ2units: Check the Italian Wars thread. Wait for release to use, or ask.
@Batosai, seems your wish is being granted already.

                              • D'oh! I have a bunch units painted by Alex Mor for the Great Northern War that I've never seen used, so I've held off looking for Fairline's assistance on it. The latest units are making me reconsider - plus I would feel less guilt about pinching the Vauban fortress....plus that hussar is awesome.

Umm, I couldn't really do it without grenadiers, cossacks and/or Crimean Tatars, however.
