  • Problems!

i have just recently purchased Civ2 gold edition for my G4 ibook and, while i can play all the scenarios, I cannot create my own icons for scenarios i build b/c when I click on the "load icon" button in the Units Editor I am unable to load (wrong program? prob w/ the CD itself? ) I have converted the file to the correct format, and I have tried numerous programs (quicktime, other viewers). Is it some program that only the old Classics have?
ALSO when I try to edit the icons manually, the next time I load the game the screen is flipped out with all thes psychodelic colors.
appreciate any help you could give!

The files for all CIV2 versions (except Test of Time) should be in 256-colour gif format.

You are best using Paint Shop Pro to edit your game resource files...(units, terrain 1 and 2, icons, cities, etc...

Or save as a bmp and ensure it is saved as Version 89a / non-interlaced.

FW/MGE can also read 256-color bitmaps.

And it can't be the wrong file format you're saving in. Otherwise you wouldn't even see any psychedelic colors. Civ2 would just crash. With GIFs anyway, maybe a wrong bitmap format does that.
