    Rabbit droppings

OK, it nets out like this -- 17 cities, 8 setts on the board. Two camels in waiting, 6 in production. 2 triremes in production. 1st in land area, pop, and production. Five new techs, but not quite the ones we would have preferred. We do, however, get to choose a new tech next turn...
    The log...

1000 BC -- Reset camels to setts, temples to barracks. Rushbuy the odd row.
975 -- Bactra settlers, HG completed. We Love The Shah in cap.
950 -- Tyre disbands, antioch completes barracks.
925 -- Sidon and Susa produce settlers. Retread founded.
    900 --
    875 -- Samaria barracks, 2 huts spotted.
850 --Ghulaman founded on wheat as northern port. Hut yields a horsie.
825 -- Gordium and SSC complete settlers, Ergili starts one.
800-- discover Mysticism, start on map making.
    775 -- Hut = nomads
    750 --
725 -- Pasagardae settler, start van. Hut = nomads again! . Zohak founded.
    700 -- We're Most Powerful. Istakhr founded.
    675 -- Russians start Colossus. Pop = 400K
650 -- Hamadan, Persepolis issue setts. Hut = Feudalism.
625 -- The wine is mined!
    600 -- Jinjan founded
575 -- Egypt destroyed by Greeks. Ergili disorder. Barazjian founded.
550 -- Our wise men disconver the art of Map Making and we start a couple boats. Now studying Horseback. Hut = Seafaring.
525 -- Russians complete Colossus. Ergili issues more settlers.
500 -- Pop over 500K. Hut yields Horseback Riding.

Unlucky on the techs, but plenty of cities, much better roads. It might make sense to ignore the LH and go for Magellan. Probably overloaded on setts vs vans, but I admit to playing quickly and without a lot of planning.

Peaster -- I'm a Mac guy, for it's MGE only for me.

It is hard to make a decision on these four saves. Although there are many differences in detail, the similarities are far stronger. Even Peaster's MPE save has the same 17 - 18 cities, and basically the same prospects for the next 20 turns.

I prefer the two saves with the wine hill near SSC mined. (Jrabbit and Grigor). And I like having Sun Tzu (Grigor). But I very much like Peaster's city placement.

I await more thoughts and RCC.

For me, it's between Peaster and Grigor. I'm leaning toward Peaster's save, with boats on the board, several more techs, Philo next and presumably crucs close behind. Grigor's is recommended by STWA with MPE yet to come.

Depite all my whinging about the idea of waiting as long as possible for MPE, I think Peaster's save shows the better development overall and I lean in that direction.

I find my own save a little embarrassing.

Wait for LaF ! We can't vote before the posting deadline ! I will probably look at all the saves tonight. It would be helpful to know the plans of each player for the next 20 turns.

For example, I would like to know approx how long Fundy, Banking, etc would take to pay off compared to the plan of sending out boats ASAP. BTW - What is our goal in this game ? I was thinking it was early conquest, but maybe I made an assumption.

No votes were recorded, LAF save not posted, propbably RL interferred.

Strategy for my game is included my log.

Remember in this game, every tech we learn is given to the then enemy, we have no technical superiority.

The game is a blood lust game. We win by conquering the world. How you conquer the world is up to you. Early, late or just before lunch makes no difference.

We vote on the save we think can best achieve that goal. On the subject of voting, as there are four saves this time, I was thinking of a preference type voting system. Give each save a rating from 1-4 (with four being be the best and one being the worst save of this round) Obviously the same rating can not be used for two saves.

                  For example:
                  JR's save: 4
                  Peaster: 3
                  Grigor: 2
                  Ant: 1

would be a legitimate vote. The save with the hightest cumulative votes wins that round. Thoughts appreciated. votes awaiting.

                    OK.
                    Grigor 4
                    Peaster 3
                    JRabbit 2
                    Ant 1

My strategy in the next 20 turns would be to build LH, expand to nearby islands, learn Philosophy and Mono, build MC. I will have vans saved, but will try to buld MPE as late as possible in hopes that the AI knows something on the way to Invention or Banking. The ultimate goal is Demo, SoL, and Soft Fundy.
