The potential for units alone is incredible. Imagine Steph, you'd be able to add French units for use in French cities, Russian Monarch units in the Russian cities, Turkish units in the Turkish cities, all of which would of course be under the control of the neutral civ but still it would add to the effect of the game.

Plus you'd still have more than enough room left over for British, German and Roman colonial units.

Say, my dear and mighty TOT wizards ... it it not necessary that I stack the units into the units.bmp file according to sound presets?

I mean ... in TOT each unit has its own sound, right?

There are still limits to that. For example, all missile units share one sound. Air units up to the helicopter slot, use the air combat sound, past that it's the jet combat sound - same as FW/MGE.

I didn't know that. What about the cannon and artillery or which others are there again. They also have the "Fire!" sound. And don't Armor units "shoot" with every round rather than just once per battle? Are those oddities also still applicable with the custom sounds?

May someone enlighten me on those special effects of certain slots in ToT please?

I am quite familiar with the sound preq´s in MGE but when it comes to ToT I am a n00b ...

Basicaly, you can assign any sound to any unit. The designation means, AFAIK, that the unit in that slot defaults to the historical (as in FW/MGE) sound, including the multiple wave files for artillery (fire!, boom, and kaboom), etc.

The exceptions that I'm aware of include missile, sub and prop/jet aircraft sounds which are the same for all units of that type.

I see ... but when I place my air units in - say - the infantry slots then there will be no problem, right?

The traditional slot problems in old versions of CIV2 are less of a hassle in ToT,
but I would stick to putting air units in the Musketeer and Knight slots, etc.
