The light finally went on. The missing S probably arises from my preference for a 800x600 pixel setting for a 17" display.

AFAIK, this is the first time that I've seen anything like this.

      I'm
      glad
      that
      you
      figured
      out
      that
      the
      web
      designer
      failed
      to
      anticipate
      a
      narrow
      display.

      I seem
      to have
      overlooked
      U Toronto.
      Must be
      pretty
      small.

It arises from the fact that you're using Internet Explorer.

On Opera and Firefox the S shows up just fine. On IE the title image disappears behind the left edge, while on Opera and Firefox it shows up in front of it. I'm sure it would be possible to fix that, but only St Leo would be able to do that, and he's gone AWOL.

Thanks for the U of T link. Yes, it is indeed a smallish degree factory but, AFAIK, a few state U's in the US are even smaller.

I can see the 'S' if I increase screen resolution to 1024 x 768 pixels but that makes CIV maps [squint] microscopic [/squint].

            . . . . .St Leo . . . . . he's gone AWOL.
He' probably gone off campus after discovering the sad truth that 90% of the girls in Toronto are good looking and the remaining 10% attend U of T.

You mean, as in background sound? If that's what you're thinking about, you're going to add that over my dead body!

Downloadable sound, yes. Background sound would involve messing with the site skin and I'd rather not. For the sake background sound, anyways.

I don't know why you guys hate sound so much!

This isn't so bad is it? It only plays once. http://sleague.apolyton.net/indexnew.php

We could always provide a button to turn it off.

                          Sounds are good!

It's actually a clip from the soundtrack of "The Incredibles". I've collected a number of soundtrack clips from movies like "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow", "Van Helsing", "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen", "Spiderman", and so on. It seems the cheesier the movie, the more atmospheric the score.

The clips run about 30 seconds on average. You can download them from sites like Cinemusic: http://www.cinemusic.net/index.html

When I did the original mockup of the new site, I looked for clips to enhance the atmosphere I was trying to create.

I like it, I really do. The clips are excellent quality and I think they lend themselves nicely to the theme of the site.
