  • Can't install

    I just got a new computer and when I try to install this on it I get the message:
    C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose Close to terminate application.

    Do a complete install from the disk including WinG and Indieo drivers. No need to play the game in DOS. Hopefully that will work.

      You will need the latest drivers though - which can be found (I think) in the directory

              My autoexec.nt reads as follows:

              @echo off

              REM Install CD ROM extensions
              lh %SystemRoot%\system32\mscdexnt.exe

              REM Install network redirector (load before dosx.exe)
              lh %SystemRoot%\system32\redir

              REM Install DPMI support
              lh %SystemRoot%\system32\dosx

                There's a thread at CivFanatics about the exact same thing, maybe that helps (if that isn't actually you yourself under a different name):
                I've tried to install Civ 2 through Windows XP but when I start to install it a pop up appears with the following on it C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32|AUTOEXEC.NT The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and microsoft windows. Choose close to terminate the application. Does anyone know what...

                    C:\WINDOWS\System32\

                    ... Assuming you have windows installed on C:\WINDOWS\.
