It might be fun to tally our points and post a spreadsheet pic at end of each session eh?

Myself, I would rather reward for advanced technologies, rather than try to manage keeping track of who hit what techs first. That would require an announcement every time a goal tech was reached, and then a verification. Though if we can come up with an easy way of doing it, I'm ok with it.
A tally at the end of each session won't be a necessity I don't think, though it could be interesting to follow. I think city and unit counts, pg and whatever screenshots we might choose will be sufficient in tracking the game.
OK, so, all we need to do is verify if we have 4 or 5 civs (are you playing llube?), what the stated rules are, and if we are indeed starting this week.
If we need to amend the rules, we can further in the game, as long as it is approved by all in the game.
Also, who will host the game, and how we are going to contact each other? I haven't used ICQ in years. I don't have it installed, and have no intentions of reinstalling. I All I have for IM is AIM. My screen name is highfill78. If no one else uses aim, I guess PM here at poly would work.I see the world through bloodshot eyes

Many of the point criteria will be known only by the player himself. This would be no different with techs since if you are first to a tech it shows as white on your science advisor screen if you arent first its blue (huts I believe are blue regardless if first or not - but they are not researched and thus shouldn't be rewarded).
I am assuming the way this will work is when someone has reached the victory point total, they will announce it, the game will be over and other players can verify that the player has indeed reached the point total. (Even with embassies you will never be certain of other players point totals at any point during the game.) To verify who is first to a tech simply count the white techs on the science advisor screen. Its simple and no record-keeping necessary.
My problem with predetermined techs is that it will encourage everyone to race to the same techs thus everyone will be encouraged to roughly follow the same strategy.
Anyways I guess the point is, that determining who gets a tech first is no more difficult than determining population or determining gold. If you guys don't like the tech idea thats OK - I just don't want to drop it because people mistakenly think it cant be managed easy.Last edited by Deity Dude; September 29, 2004, 12:53.

And what if you get a tech in the same year (turn) as another civ but are behind that players turn... tough luck I guess?
Also techs from hut showing as white for points is OK in my books, as is advanced tribe... have to keep the exploring luck in the game I reckon... or just ban huts?
I'm easy... the simplest thing really, is to let DD make the final decisions Because we'll never agree otherwise!!
That is unles Ljube is also playing!!!!

let's start at 8pm (is that USA Eastern? ie, DD's 8pm)
...get a tech free start lined up and then hold for DD to join at 8:30... otherwise we'll spend half the night getting started...
Dylan has good hosting.
As does ljube if he plays at work!
Mine is variable with 400k one-way satellite (33k modem uplink) TOO much latency; and I'm the only one in Australia."Old age and skill will overcome youth and treachery. "

33k? No wonder they call you slow
I can be online at 8, but as I pointed out, I have no idea how to contact anyone here.
That points system gets my approval. Sounds fine.I see the world through bloodshot eyes

Points look OK to me.
quick questions:
Did we agree on no caravans.
Are we playing RAH's rules for everything not covered?
What are barb settings?
I have AIM and Yahoo IM and ICQ so I shold be able to talk to everyone.
Anyways Ill try and get there early tonite if possible.
I know I might seem like a stickler on rules but I have learned a little extra time up front sorting these things out can save a lot of time and hard feelings later.

no caravans is good
not familiar with rah rules, but I am sure they are fine by me.
I'd say mid level barbs, not level 1 or level 4, somewhere in the middle.
We also have to agree to a map size. Medium would obviously make for a faster game and cater to "territorial disputes". Large would cater more to civ building.
A custom map somewhere between the medium and large would be my preference.I see the world through bloodshot eyes
